At the end of the lesson, the pupils must be

The class will be having an activity
called “3 in 1”.
Say the expression: “Thank you

TONE
MOOD
is how we feel as we read or listen. It is the
emotion created by the speaker and
experienced by the Reader.
Examples of mood: hopeless, stressed,
peaceful, festive, lonely, restless
PURPOSE
Is the reason why a statement is wrote or said.
Examples of purpose: to Inform, to entertain,
to persuade
GROUP ACTIVITY
GROUP ACTIVITY
Devide the class into 2 groups. Each groups
are given the same scenarios that they will
Portray.
The act is given 1 minute to practice and 2
minutes to portray the act.
GROUP ACTIVITY
Scenario: The teacher get angry because of 1
student who didn’t pass his/her activity. Without
knowing that the student has financial problems
that he/she couldn’t buy the materials needed for
that specific output. The teacher scolded the
student and gave him/her a failure grade and the
student cried all session and being bullied by
his/her classmates.
GENERALIZATION
Explain the importance of
understanding the speaker’s tone and
mood.
II. GENERALIZATION
I look at all achievements I got hanging on
the wall. I whispered to myself " I did my
best and everything is worth it".
What is the speakers tone?
What mood does the Text suggests?
What is the author's purpose for writing the
text?

nothing worked.”

V. ASSIGNMENT
1. All people should know how to recycle. It is one way of saving Mother
Earth. We can even earn money through our recycled materials. The
nest time you try to throw your trash, think again.
2. Mother lost her job. The family may not have enough money to send
the children to school for the next school year. During the summer, the
children worked hard to sell snacks. They earned enough money for
enrolment and to buy their school supplies too.
3. Sun gives life to the earth. It is the main source of heat and energy.
Without it all living things will freeze to death. It is the reason for the
weather patterns of the planet. It is needed by plants for
photosynthesis.
VI. ENRICHMENT
Read and identify the purpose of the speaker. Write to
inform , to entertain and to persuade.
