The Teacher Salary Supplement Program (TSSP) provides qualifying secondary math, science, and computer science teachers with an annual salary bonus of up to $4,100. The program was established in 2008 to incentivize teachers in these fields. In 2014, the Utah State Board of Education took over administration of the program from the Department of Human Resource Management. In 2015, computer science was added as an eligible subject area. The program qualifications and funding are outlined in Utah statute.

The document discusses Pershing MS's School Technology and Readiness (STaR) ratings. STaR measures schools' progress in meeting state technology standards across four areas: teaching and learning, educator preparation, administration and support, and infrastructure. Pershing's highest rated area is infrastructure, while educator preparation needs enhancement so teachers can better utilize technology for instruction. Analyzing STaR data annually can help schools meet state technology standards and prepare students for an increasingly technology-driven world.

Magnetometers are instruments used to measure magnetic fields. There are two main types: vector magnetometers measure the direction and magnitude of magnetic fields, while scalar magnetometers measure only magnitude. Common vector magnetometer types include induction coil, fluxgate, and SQUID, while scalar types are proton precession and optically pumped. Magnetometers are used to study the Earth's magnetic field and detect magnetic anomalies. The Earth's field is generated by electric currents in the Earth's core and ionosphere. Magnetometer measurements provide information about these fields and currents.

The document summarizes the key points from a meeting of the Perkins Participatory Planning Committee on May 14, 2009. It discusses the major focus areas of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act grant, including academic integration, technical skills development, alignment with high priority occupations, and required uses of funds. It also outlines CIT's performance indicators and objectives related to academic attainment, technical skill attainment, program completion, and student graduation.
The document outlines the legislative priorities of Houston Community College for the 83rd Texas Legislative Session. Key priorities include adequate base funding for operations and growth, adopting an outcomes-based funding model that accounts for challenges faced by community college students, expanding grant-based financial aid for community college students, restoring full funding for employee benefits, and obtaining funding for new facilities and programs to address the nursing shortage.
Texas is a national leader in K-12 computer science education. It requires all high schools to offer computer science courses, and counts computer science courses towards graduation requirements like mathematics and foreign language credits. However, there is a lack of computer science teachers in Texas, with only 23 individuals completing a teaching program for computer science certification in 2017. Various programs exist to help address this shortage, such as workshops to certify existing teachers in computer science and funding for computer science teacher training.
This document provides information and instructions for Round 9 of the California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP) Region 8 grant. Key details include:
- The grant serves grades 4-8 and prioritizes districts with high poverty rates and schools identified for improvement.
- Funding amounts range from $25,000 to $300,000 per district.
- At least 25% of funds must go to teacher professional development.
- Applications will be scored on a 100 point scale across categories like program design, technology access, and sustainability.
- Funded districts will report performance data annually and may receive funding in 3 installments.
This document provides information about Round 9 of the California Department of Education's EETT Competitive grant program. Key details include:
- The grant is for districts or charter schools serving grades 4-8 that meet poverty and technology access criteria.
- Funding amounts range from $25,000 to $300,000 depending on student population and prior funding levels have been significantly reduced.
- Applications will be scored on a 100 point scale across criteria including programs for students and teachers, access, evaluation, and sustainability. A minimum 50 point score is required.
The document discusses various models for school turnaround and improvement including definitions, requirements, and notes about each model. It provides information on:
1) Definitions of school turnaround and improvement from a book on the topic.
2) The requirements and options for the transformation, turnaround, restart, closure, whole school reform, and early childhood models. Notes are included to provide additional details on elements of each model.
3) Data on previous School Improvement Grant cohorts including number of schools awarded, funding amounts, and school types.
4) Details of the requirements for the upcoming Cohort IV grants including eligible schools, award amounts, and differences from previous cohorts.
The document discusses misalignments in how K-12 education funding is currently spent and opportunities to restructure spending to better support student success. Specifically:
1. Spending has doubled since 1970 but the basic school structure has not changed, with 80% of increased funds going to staffing rather than other priorities.
2. Job structures, compensation, and class sizes are "one-size-fits-all" but do not meet the needs of all students. Struggling students in particular do not get enough individual attention and time.
3. Special education placements and models vary widely between states despite serving similar percentages of students.
The document argues states should reallocate resources to needier schools, break down
The document provides information on the various routes into teaching in the UK, including:
1) PGCE (university-based), School Direct (salaried and unsalaried), SCITT, and Teach First are the main routes to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
2) PGCE is a one-year, full-time course based at a university with school placements. School Direct offers largely school-based training with some university involvement. SCITT is based at one school while completing placements at others.
3) All routes require academic qualifications, teaching skills tests in English and maths, and involve competitive selection processes considering experience and personal statements.
A presentation to the Board of Higher Education at their meeting on April 28, 2015 by:
