Harry Truman was the 33rd President of the United States from 1945 to 1953. Some of his key accomplishments included ending World War II, establishing the Marshall Plan and NATO to contain the Soviet Union during the Cold War, desegregating the military, and firing General MacArthur during the Korean War to maintain civilian control over the military. However, he was also criticized for losses during the Korean War and allowing China to fall to communism under Mao Zedong.
