THERE’S AN ANGLE to lifting suppression orders on sex offenders that opponents seem to miss – or conveniently ignore.
The publication of the name and photo of a convicted offender may not only alert people to possible danger and prevent future attacks. It may encourage other past victims of that predator to come forward.
When they realise they were not alone and maybe they will be believed. Especially if the attacker is a high profile entertainer or sports star.
I now call it the ‘Rolf Harris Syndrome’ after so many other women came forward with personal stories once Jake the Ped was publicly identified and charged.
Women like New Zealand MP Maggie Barry (whom I wrote about yesterday) now being urged to reveal the identity of the ‘prominent New Zealander’ who pleaded guilty to an indecency charge but had his name permanently suppressed and no conviction recorded.
The former All Black Grahame Thorne, whom I named here yesterday.
New Zealanders are not allowed to know that he pleaded guilty in the Dunedin District Court to a charge of performing an indecent act intended to insult or offend a woman. He was convicted and ordered to pay $5000 reparation for emotional harm and $1500 in counselling costs. In the Court of Appeal in Wellington His lawyer argued that Thorne, in a bid to avoid a public trial, only pleaded guilty on the understanding he would be offered diversion or a discharge without conviction.
The matter was sent back to Dunedin. Thorne was discharged without conviction and his name permanently suppressed in New Zealand. from Hawke’s Bay, he’s a lawyer, and his name is Bevan Heremia.

It was started by a former Cleveland Browns legend. For those of you that go back that far, Reggie Rucker played wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns. He got involved with an organization that wanted to do something with some of our formerly incarcerated individuals, some individuals from the community that aren't the people that you would see in a meeting like this but that he knew could move the bar as far as police community relations in the city of Cleveland. He got those young men and women together and he turned the Cleveland Peace Makers Alliance. What this organization does, they work hand in hand with the Police Department and the community during high profile events, during community events, during times in the city when we need that so-called buffer between the Police Department and the community because things have happened. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

On The INLETS:
Above & Beyond
Award
The Above & Beyond Award provides an opportunity to recognize
those who have significantly contributed to the mission of the law
enforcement. The intended purpose is to highlight individuals whose
contributions have made a positive impact, contributions which tend
to go unnoticed or unrecognized each day in our profession by
outsiders. In bringing those individuals recognition for their
contributions, we share in showing appreciation of their selfless acts.
The general public has a great amount of respect for those in law
enforcement. And there are many ways they demonstrate that
appreciation. Yet they seldom see the day in and day out heroics that
occurs across each community, neighborhood, school, park, city, or
state. And as law enforcement, we seldom have time to sit back and
reflect on the good that we do because there is always more to be
done. One way we, as law enforcement, can bring recognition to these
worthy colleagues is through peer nominated awards.
Tonight we recognize two individuals who come from completely
different backgrounds yet at their core possess the same selfless
attributes. One is a citizen and one a sworn law enforcement officer.
In our line of work often is uttered, “See something, Say something.”
The two individuals honored tonight also Did Something.
6. On the INLETS: Above & Beyond
the Recipients
Vickie Williams-Tillman
Staff, St. Jude the Apostle School
On a Sunday morning in February 2017, Vickie Williams-Tillman was on her
way to Sam's Club and Walmart, listening to gospel music, when she
noticed a police officer struggling with a man on the side of the road.
She rolled down her window to ask if the officer needed help, but she
couldn't hear him respond. She did, however, lock eyes with him. "I could
see in his eyes he needed help," said Williams-Tillman. "You don't have time
to think about it … I did what God needed me to do."
Baton Rouge Police Corporal Billy Aime had conducted a traffic stop after
he saw drug paraphernalia in a parked vehicle. After the driver got out of
the car, he became aggressive. He grabbed the Aime’s baton and hit him
repeatedly on the head and also bit his hand. Aime was grappling with the
man who was reaching for Aime's holstered weapon.
Ms. Williams-Tillman, in heels, stands just over 5 ft. tall, but, she said she's
always been a "tough cookie." She stopped her car, pulled over, called
9-1-1 and then began to assist the officer. She wrestled the man's hand off
of the officer’s weapon and then jumped on the man’s back. This helped
Aime regain control of the situation.
The man was arrested that evening on drug and battery counts. Aime had a
slight headache Monday from the strikes to his head.
Now, Williams-Tillman and Aime are calling themselves family. "I've got
another family," Williams-Tillman said, her arm around Aime. "Baton Rouge,
together as one."
"This is unbelievable from the stand point of bridging the gap between the
community and the law enforcement agency," said Baton Rouge Police
Chief Carl Dabadie. “We are indebted to you."
For her courage and bravery, and selfless acts in supporting law
enforcement, Vickie Williams-Tillman has gone Above & Beyond in her
service to her community.

7. Robert “Andre” Ardeneaux, Jr.
Deputy, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office
Deputy Robert "Andre" Ardeneaux, Jr. entered onto duty with St. Tammany
Parish Sheriff's Office on March 2007. During that time, he had never had a
year of service like that of 2016.
In March, while on vacation, extensive rainfall resulted in major flooding.
Without hesitation or request, he reported to work and took part in rescue
operations. During these efforts, a swift current caused a boat to capsize with
people inside. As a result of Deputy Ardeneaux's valiant effort to save the
shipwrecked crew, he tore several ligaments in his shoulder which required
surgery.
While recovering from shoulder surgery, he accompanied his family to a
community swimming pool for a child's party. As the party drew to a close, he
noticed a dark object at the bottom of the pool. Deputy Ardeneaux removed
his shoulder sling and jumped into the pool. Upon reaching the bottom, he
realized the motionless object was his son. He pulled his son from the pool
and immediately directed someone to call 9-1-1. Properly administering CPR,
he managed to resuscitate his son prior to the arrival of EMS. After an
overnight stay at Children's Hospital, Deputy Ardeneaux’s son returned home.
Returning to full duty at the end of June, Deputy Ardeneaux informed his
supervisors of a rare situation. He was contacted and told he was a perfect
match for a kidney transplant for Jason Triche. Triche was a Sheriffs Deputy
for St. John the Baptist Parish and the victim of an ambush shooting where
two of his fellow deputies were killed. As a result of the ambush shooting,
Triche was in dire need of a kidney.
At the beginning of September, the transplant surgery was a success. Deputy
Ardeneaux fully recovered and returned to work within a few weeks. Triche
recovered as well, and no longer has to receive dialysis treatments. Both
officers, and their families, became good friends and maintain a relationship to
this day.
From off-duty rescues, being injured in the line of duty, saving the life of his
own son, and selflessly donating a kidney to save the life of another law
enforcement officer, Deputy Robert “Andre” Ardeneaux, Jr. has gone Above &
Beyond in service to his community.

8. I Never Dreamed It Would Be Me
I never dreamed it would be me,
My name for all eternity.
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
Alas my name, no more my face.
“In the line of duty,” I hear them say;
My family now the price will pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears,
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee;
I ask for all here from the past,
Dear God, let my name be the last.
- Sgt. George Hahn, LAPD
10. My Brother
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform,
the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department,
his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong
and became frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and
the lonely weekends, holidays, and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the most time,
but knew his calling and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated tot the profession
and cared about the people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could
and strive to be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was cop. He was my brother.

11. You may have noticed the small table set for one that is off on its own - it is
reserved to honor our fallen Heroes. This symbolizes that they are with us,
here in spirit. We should never forget the brave men and women who
answered our nation's call to serve and served the cause of freedom in a
special way. We are ever mindful that the sweetness of enduring peace has
always been tainted by the bitterness of personal sacrifice. We are compelled
to never forget that while we enjoy our daily pleasures, there are others who
have endured the agonies of pain, deprivation and death.
• The Table, with its place setting, is a way of symbolizing the fact that
members of our profession are missing from this event.
• The table is set for one, though the number is many.
• The Chair is empty. They can no longer join us.
• The Tablecloth is white - symbolizing the purity of their intentions to serve
their communities.
• The Candle is lit - symbolizing their spirit to serve.
• The Glass is inverted - they cannot drink nor toast with us this day.
• A slice of Lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate.
• The single Red Rose displayed in the vase is to remind us of their families
and loved ones.
• The Salt upon the plate is symbolic of their tears.
• The Blue Ribbon tied so prominently on the vase reminds us of the "Thin
Blue Line" which stands strong before those who would destroy law and
order in our great nation.
Many of us served with these peace officers and called them "partner". We
relied upon them; depended upon their might, and their aid.
We called them "Brothers." We called them "Sisters."
They watch over us still ~~ and we Honor them
today
Let us remember
- and never forget their sacrifice.
May they and their families ever be watched over
and protected.
Table for Fallen Heroes
12. For %ive days in April 2009, the world was glued to their TV screens as
Captain Richard Phillips became the center of an extraordinary
international drama when he was captured by Somali pirates who
hijacked his ship, the %irst hijacking of a U.S. ship in more than 200 years.
The hostage drama began on Wednesday, April 8th when a small band of
pirates swung grappling hooks and climbed ropes from their skiff onto
the Maersk Alabama, a container ship ferrying food aid to East Africa.
Firing into the air as they leapt aboard the ship, many of the crew
members scrambled into a designated safe room aboard the vessel.
On the bridge, the pirates held four sailors at gunpoint, but the crew of 20
outnumbered the four attackers. They managed to wound the apparent
leader of the pirates in the hand with an ice pick and regain control. The
crew demanded the other pirates leave the ship, but the pirates had
scuttled their own small boat. They demanded an escape boat, fuel and
food.
Captain Richard Phillips
13. To protect his crew, Captain Phillips made a conscious decision to put
himself directly in harm's way, knowing full well that he might pay the
ultimate price for his decision. Amid the standoff, he offered himself as a
hostage.
Once the pirates settled into one of the ship's covered lifeboats, the crew
attempted to trade the pirate they had captured for Captain Phillips. After
they released their captive, the pirates refused to honor the agreement and
%led with nine days of food rations and Captain Phillips. Held hostage as a
human shield in a small lifeboat with three pirates, he had little to hope for
or cling to — except the knowledge that he had done absolutely everything
he could to save the lives of the 20 sailors aboard his ship.
The U.S. Navy responded to the scene, and negotiations were ongoing
between the pirates and the captain of the USS Bainbridge. On Friday April
10th, Captain Phillips jumped out of the lifeboat and managed to swim a
few yards toward the nearby destroyer, but the pirates went in after him
and managed to haul him back in. The standoff dragged on until April 12th,
when Navy SEAL snipers saw one of the pirates aim his AK-47 machine gun
at Capt. Richard Phillips's back and concluded he was in “imminent
danger.”
President Barack Obama, who spoke with Captain Phillips by phone after
he was freed, said, "I share the country's admiration for the bravery of
Captain Phillips and his sel%less concern for his crew. His courage is a
