This talk will explore how games play an integral part in today's crossmedia landscape. More and more, fictional worlds are being created with multiple points of entry that provide fans as little or as much access and agency as they want into the stories found in these worlds. Specific examples will be discussed in order to highlight the role that video games play in the overall experiences, as well as to illustrate how game design serves as an overarching trope through which fans are encouraged to explore the various media in order to fully experience the fictional world.

Tim Leberecht@NEXT09: The Seven Rules of the Chief Meaning Officerfrog
"The job of leadership today is not just to make money. It's to make meaning," writes management consultant John Hagel.
This talk argues that the fundamental crisis of capitalism presents a historic opportunity for brands to transform themselves into arbiters of meaning. Becoming Chief Meaning Officers, CMOs and other marketing leaders must move beyond simply connecting products and customers with the goal to facilitate transactions – they must now create "meaning" through actions and interactions. A "meaning surplus" will become imperative: Only brands that give more than they take will be able to create sustained brand loyalty.

Change of chinese values across different generationsHorizonKey
Social environment is interactive with human’s subsistence and development. When we make an analysis of the profound changes that have happened to China’s society over the past 30 years, the “human” that lives in the society by itself serves as an important symbol that can help us to trace such a history.
The study, entitled “Change of Chinese Values across Different Generations”, worked out by the HorizonKey, aims to make analyses of and comparisons between Chinese people’s values during different generations to reflect all-time changes in the Chinese society. Through our researches, it is not difficult to find that people born in the 1960s and 70s tend to share a unified value and perspective. What both the two generations care more about are devotion, loyalty and sharing with others. However, the case is different when it comes to those born in the 1980s. These less-than-30-years-old people face a diversified value system and they have no unified standard and perspective towards the same problem. For the generation in the 1990s, things are also different. As the country opens wider to the outside world, the society becomes more diversified and more tolerant. The “self-centered” value has gradually dominated the minds of this young generation. Different groups not only hold different views about which value should take a leading position, but also show differences over what influences the same value element will produce on different-generation groups. This report presented by us aims to help you more deeply understand the differences between different generations of Chinese people as well as probe into the vicissitude China’s society has experienced over the past 30 years.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
