For this idea to work the musicians and the fans
need to be on the same page and connected.

involved. You cannot connect with fans if your

effort to connect with fans, then that’s fine: you
wont have that many fans’ you need to build up
a strong fan base. If you don’t convince you fans
that there is something to buy , then they wont
buy to often the musicians or other content
creators think there is some sort of obligation to
buy.
How Trent Connected with fans
• You need to create successful strategies for building up a
  strong fan base.
WHAT TRENT DID :
• Internet scavenger hunt (ARG)
• Highlighted letters on the back of the tour shirts and when
  put in order it spelt ‘iamtryingtobelive.com’
• This connected with the fans beyond the music
• Engaged, energized and exited the fans
• He took usb’s and put new music on them and then put
  them in the toilets at his concerts
• He gave them free downloads for the first 9 songs on his
  album and then you have to bye the other 36 songs
Reasons to buy
• You need to keep giving fans reasons to buy you music
• WHAT TRENT DID:
• If you bought the CD it would change colour when you
  played it. You can not get this when you get it of the
  internet so it is something interesting for the fans
• He gave different deals with lots of different things in
  for example:
• $10 2 cd and 62 page booklet
• $75 deluxe edition blue ray disk
• $300 deluxe disk ,only 2500, personally signed (sold
  out after 30hrs made $750 000)
How I would connect with my fans and
      give them a reason to buy
• I would want people to watch the music video that I
  had created so that then they would want to go out
  and buy the cd.
• I would create a blog and keep the fans engaged and
  interactive with everything that is going on so that then
  they would feel like part of the process.
• I would also make a contest with who has the best idea
  for a music video and then use the best idea so that
  then the fan would feel like they have done something
  to contribute to the music video
