The Western Reserve Land Conservancy's Reforest Our City program trains tree stewards to increase Cleveland's tree canopy. Due to the pandemic, training moved to an online format using Zoom. The new format engages participants through interactive polling, breakout rooms, annotation tools, and props to keep sessions interesting. Feedback from over 60 volunteers found the content was new each week and the pacing was appropriate. The online training reached more residents in low-canopy neighborhoods and improved engagement in volunteer events. In-person labs supplemented the online curriculum. The program aims to build involvement for the future.
