\n\nAdam will film a music video for the band CALI in a TV studio on December 3rd, 2011. He plans to film the band doing a staged performance of their song "I think you should dress less" in front of a white background with black floor. Adam will use different camera angles and shots to focus on each band member during instrumental and vocal parts. The video will be influenced by other bands' music videos filmed in simple, white studio settings. Adam needs to borrow two HD cameras from the TV studio where he will film from 9am to 12-1pm on the scheduled date.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

3. Studio-shoot ideas:
I have many ideas for my shoot, most have been influenced by other music videos I
have seen, I will be looking to film a typical post hard-core video, in a white studio,
with bright lights focused on the bands. The song will be a key aspect to the video,
as a prominent part of the song plays I will focus on that band member, for
example a vocal solo, I will cut different angles of the singer singing the lyrics. Or a
guitarist performing a solo within the song, I would cut different angles of his
guitar and fingers playing, along with mid shots of him holding the guitar. I have
the idea of this being a staged performance, but I would also like to give the band a
lot of freedom, allowing them to flow with the track, and perform how they would
to an audience. This again relates to the post hard-core style the band have
adopted. I will be focusing a lot on the drummer ‘Liam’ from ’CALI’, as he has many
prominent drumming parts, so I will cut different angles together of him
performing them. I'm also looking to have many zoomed out shots of the band
playing together to the song, so you can see the space they are playing in. The vide
will be in a small TV studio at city college, with a white background glistening
behind the band, and a matt black floor. The lights will be visible on the ceiling
throughout, but I like this as it adds a sense of professionalism to the shoot, as if
this is where the band plays daily to practise. So there is a small idea of some of
the shoot ideas I already have for my music video.
4. Where and when you will be filming:
I will be filming my music video in the TV studio
at CCN (City College Norwich), using nothing but
a white background with black floor, this will
create the effect I desire for my video, making
the body's stand out distinctively. I will be
filming around 9am on the 3rd of December
2011. This will take half a day to film, as I aim to
be finished by 12-1 in the afternoon, then spend
the rest of the day editing.
5. Summary of Production:
- Opening 5 seconds, focus on lukes guitar intro riff
- Cut to Shot of lewie adjusting his mic lead and pushing hair from face/acting natural
- Cut to joe on his toes ready to go next to Jayk doing the same action (naturally)
- 10 seconds in as drums come shot to liam hitting the opening beats from angle of just him and the kit
- Cut to
- 18 seconds as last symbol shot comes in before luke opening vocals, finish with liam hitting symbols.
- Luke at side angle leans into mic and sings opening line “as i climb my way”.
- And behind coming strongly into focus is lewie with the scream “from your legs to your lips”.......
- Lewis continuing the scream after lukes vocals, with then shot of whole band, keeping joe and jayk focused
- Lovely zoomed in shot of lewie from side screaming his lungs off from 32 till 42, possibly 2 close up angles, if not one tilting up with him as he
rises from the scream
- Focus on luke strongly while he sings from 43 to 48
- 48 to 52 jayk playing the fill while lewie screams before chorus
- Cut to liam playing the 5 beats pre chorus and striking symbol
- For the chorus cut between luke and lewie singing on the sections and the whole band playing
- At 1:15 cut to shot of luke finishing the long held note at the end of the chorus
- After this shot cut to joe and jayk playing the breakdown intro together, mid shot making the guitar threts clear
- Each time liam strike symbol cut to shot of him
- 1:27 cut to shot of lewie hard-core singing the breakdown section
- 1:39 shot of whole band and luke leaning into his mic to sing, “and is this”........
- Cut to jake playing riff focusing mainly on his fingers playing the riff
- Continuously cut to joe playing bass and head banging, making his long hair and style on the bass a factor of each shit including him
- 1:55 shots of liam playing the simple drum beat while lukes singing and cutting between guitarist except luke
- 2:00 hench shot of luke showing his passion with the line “I think youuuuu........
- Then as he finishes the last word BANG onto lewie screaming with a mid-shot while he goes crazy to the pace of the song
- 2:23 shot of whole band as the song mellows out, to gain a temporary calm effect over the song
- 2:26 shot of jayk playing riff calmly but ready for the heavier ending to the song
- Again continously cutting between band members
- 2:32 luke comes in again shot of his whole body this time with lewie moving round him
- Shots of lewie while he ends each line with DRESSSSS
- And shots of liam while he drums
- 2:58 shots of liam while he hits the bass pedal getting ready for the final part of the song
- Cutting between this shots of each member of the band, particularly jayk while he plays the riff
- 3:05 shot of whole band while they crank out the ending of the song
- Shots of head banging while they end it
- 3:26 calmer slower cuts, here of luke coming in with the vocals every once and a while cut to luke while he sings, as he is finishing the song
with continously lyrics
- Shots frequently of joe as his bass is emphasized strongly at the end, and cut between the band members
- The last time luke says the finishing line at 3:58 cut the shot quickly to a shot of the whole band, almost stationary not playing a thing letting
the instruments drown out, finishing and fading out the song.
6. Stylistic Influences and inspiration:
The first video I gained inspiration from was from a band called the ‘Architects’, they shot there video for the song ‘Always’ in the
exact style I'm looking to shoot mine, in a small studio that is completely white and lit, making it a strong influence for my work -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42saK4s5kHQ
This next song is from a local band called ‘Many Things Untold’, who did a similar thing to what the ‘Architects’ did, they shot
there video in a white studio, keeping it simple and bland with the colours, I like this idea and will be looking to achieve similar
results with my work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qdskN_J2CY
Here is another video filmed in a similar style by a band called ‘Gallows’, although a lot of editing has gone into this video, making
it slow mo for a percentage of it, to gain an eerie effect of the band members instruments, a punk style adopted by many bands. A
key difference with this video is the background of the studio, its black and not white like the other videos I have studied for
inspiration - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hvF3mDOmSo&feature=related
This band is called ‘Heart In Hand’, and they have adopted the staged performance style I will be setting my band up in, but they
have set their video up in a forest, with all their instruments, making it much more unique to what other bands do -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z293tG4-488
This video is set up a bit differently as there is more of a story going on around the staged performance, but I love the way the
staged performance is shot of the band. The band is called ‘Stick To Your Guns’ -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbWPydEzyb0&feature=related
Here is a video from a band called ‘While She Sleeps’ performing there hit song ‘Crows’, this video is similar to the last 2 I have put
on as influences, as it’s a staged performance, but its been filmed outside in a dank house that has been smashed down, so they
are performing in front of a ruin. This is influential for how the band are set up, its so well done -

7. Production equipment needed: I will require 2 HD Panasonic cameras
for my video which are built onto tripods, they are based in the TV
studio where I will be filming my video, this is all I will require for my
video.
Dates you need the equipment: I will be needing equipment on the
3rd December 2011, this is the only day I will need it as we aim to finish
the video the day we start it.
Times and dates you need the TV Studio: I will need the TV studio at
9am on the 3rd of December when I shoot my video, we will be
finished filming by around 12-1 for the music video, as mentioned it
will not take all day to film the staged performance and we need one
day only to do it.
