an unusual relationshipwhichiscomedicyetreflective of whatIkaviewsherself.

 Sarcastic
These are all the personalitytraitswhichIkadislikesaboutherself whichare thenphysicalisedin
Sab; Sab takesan interestingrole asbeing the negative/somewhatdamagingconscience of Ika.
Artisthave a general sayingthatyouare your worstcriticwhichin Ika’scase is verymuchreal as
not onlydoesSabjudge Ikaon herstudies& art but alsoherday-to-dayactivity(whichisquite
typical forartist whoare overlycritical of themselves).
KILE – CharacterDrawingwhichcomesto life –Kile hasno speakingrolesandisa drawing of a
cartoon snake whichcomestolife,hisexpressionsare comedicaswell asentertaining.He isthe
maindrawingoutof the variousotherdrawingsashe isthe firstthat we are introducedto.
Act 1: The Putdown:The date isThursday12th
October2019, we are firstintroducedtoSab (see
character description) walkingovertohercounterpartof the shortfilm(see characterdescriptionof
Ika).
Ika ispassedouton an oldpark bench due to her alcoholism&depressionwhichwasbroughtonby
a numberof differentfactorswhichleadtoherlosingconfidence inherself andherprofession.
She issurroundedbyemptybeerbottlesandothersources (tea,cigarettes&other) whichnumbs
hercripplinglackof self-confidence.
WhenSab sitsdownto joinIka,she takesa half-filledbeerbottlefromIka’shand,thenproceedsto
pour iton herface (whichpromptlywakesherup).
From thenon Sab& Ika exchange afewfrank/wittycomments(withIkastrugglingfroma
hangover),Ikathenproceedstowalktothe college whichshe isnow late for.

Continuingonfromthe benchscene,we travel withIka&Sab as theywalkto the college;withSab
makingfunnycommentsandother remarksto Ikaand passers-by (showinghow Sabisjudgemental
to Ika andothers).
Sab & Ika arrive at the studyto continue withtheirdayscourseworkthatneedstobe done, we then
see a montage of scenesinwhich Sabchallenges Ikainherdaily routine.
An example of this:
 Café shop – Sab challengingIkaonherdrinkchoices& foodchoices
 Study – SabcommentingonIka’sabilitytowrite ascript
 Art room– Sab remarkingonIka’sart, “I don’tget it”
Act 2: The Battle:Sab & Ika are now inthe art roomwhere we view Ikacontemplating overthe
compositionof herlatestcharacter/drawing,Sabpromptly lookingindisgustandcriticisingthe
drawing.
Ika has justhadenoughof the constantput downfromSab soan argumentbetweenthe twosoon
emerges.
The argumentfrom the twocounterpartsstarts to manipulatingtheirsurroundings(causingpapers
to flyoff the table andother objectstofall).
The argumentescalatestothe extentwhere Ikablacksoutand Sabstops yelling.
Ika wakesupwithSab passedouton the table,everythingisbackinplace, she standsupand looks
for herdrawingwhichisno longertobe seenon the paper.
Sab comesaroundto findIkastaring at her(PoV shot),Ikahas now notice the drawingwhichshe
drewhas nowcome to life andissittingonSab’sshoulders.
Ika explainstoSabthatthe drawingwhichshe hadcreatedison Sab’sshoulder,whensabturnsto
lookat the drawing,theybothscreamand the drawingisscared off.
Act 3: The Victory:Sab& Ikaspendtime tryingto catch and bringthe drawingundercontrol butfind
it’snot an isolatedinstance asall Ika’s drawingshascome tolife.
Sab evaluatesthe situationanddiscoversthatIkahasenoughonher plate sodecidestodepartand
watch fromafar (witha cup of tea andpopcorn).
Ika finds heremptysketchbook whichshe decidestotrapall herdrawingsin,she fightstokeep
theminand succeedinsecuringthemwithaleatherbelt.
The next/lastshotwe see isIkawalkinghome withthe bookwithalastingglintinhereye as she
smilesatthe camera.
Target audience:Frommyoriginal mindmapideasIsaidFamily/comedy/fantasy,Ibelievenow that
the typical genre will followthe route of Comedy/fantasyasthe mature jokesare notsuitedfora
familyfriendlyaudience.The newtargetaudience forthisshort filmwouldfollow amature audience
16+, as mature jokesandthemes mightbe seenasdistasteful toyoungerorparental,however16+
wouldrelate more tothe character, setand storyline (due tocollege/schoolatmosphere).Due to

Form andstyle:Due to Sab & Ika beingthe same actor (butplayingthe twodifferentcharacter’s),
staticcameras on tripodswouldhave tobe usedas to make the varietyof shotsequal toeach other
so whenblending(onAfterEffects)the scenesof the individual charactersthe effectisseamless.
Duringthe scenesinwhichthe drawingsare presentthe effectof either2DanimationorStop
Motionanimationwill be present.Whenresearchingoldtechniquesonanimation(Disney),a
technique whichtheyusedwasframe-by-framepainting/drawing,Due tothe availabilityof digital
art software/programs,we candrawdirectlyontothe shotstakenandproceedto do the same
technique ata fasterrate witha live actioncut/actorspresent.Ithinkthe presentof the tradition
style animationwill emphasise the childlike imaginationof the storyandwill lightenthe moodof a
complex topicof self-doubt/self-belief.
Marketplace:Asthe theme of the story ishighlightingartiststruggleswithself-doubt/self-belief,I
believethatthe mainmarketplace wouldbe more cateredtowardsthe artcommunity(onthe
YouTube platform) asthe lack of recognitionfortheirtalentscanleadtostrugglesof self-doubt/self-
belief intheirability.Thisshortfilmtouchesonthatsubjectandwoulddeliverarelatable subject.I
thinka prequel/sequelwouldbe possible butnotdesiredasIwouldlike toleave the storyopen,but
can revisitif wantingtodevelopthe storyfurther.
