THE BRAND
RIVOLI is a Swiss family own “niche” brand
Its scope:
to offer to a discerning clientele a series of
skincare products capable of promoting,
maintaining and repairing the skin for a healthy
and bright look.
How:
This means to invest heavily in:
- selecting the best ingredients
- developing formulation of the products with
great care for the skin and the environment.
- Clinical testing to prove product efficacy
THE PHILOSOPHY
The skin is intelligent. Thanks to our
intelligent technologies Rivoli can
offer skincare
THE CORE VALUES
EFFICACY
Use of specific active ingredients at effective % and
biomimetical formulations for skin barrier enhancement.
enhancement.
PROVEN RESULTS
Clinical test on finished products and not only on the
single active ingredients.
SAFETY
Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. Extensive
blacklist.
SUSTAINABILITY
High recyclability grade of packagings. Produced in our own
ISO-14001 certified plant using only renewable energy.
THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY
the precursors
The systematic usage of precursors of
actives is one of the key reasons
explaining the excellent efficacy of the
RIVOLI products.
the multi-lamellar structures
The multi-lamellar structures is a
technology used in dermatology products.
RIVOLI products contain up to 30% of MLS
to make formulations more skin-friendly.
THE EFFICACY
We go far beyond simple, subjective
product evaluations by a panel of
consumers.
We do not rely on efficacy claims of
single ingredients. Our finished
products are subjected to stringent
clinical trials conducted by an
independent laboratory in order to
measure their true efficacy.
THE CLINICALS
THE TESTS
The ingredients used in our products are
selected according to very strict criteria
that go far beyond what is required by
Swiss and European legislation.
THE BLACKLIST
We rigorously apply the precautionary
principle that any questionable or
controversial ingredient will not be used.
This includes any presence of possible
heavy metal content and endocrine
disruptors in a given ingredient.
THE SAFETY
RIVOLI is committed to taking all necessary measures to
minimize the impact of its products on the environment.
«Clean» formulas:
• We prioritize the use of ingredients of natural
origin or biosynthesis
«Ecoresponsible» Packaging
• We are constantly improving the recyclability of
our packaging.
THE SUSTAINABILITY
THE RIVOLI LADY
• Fashion wise, she is interested in
ethical niche brands but she also
loves classic masterpieces.
• Speaking about beauty, she is a
discerning customer. She loves new
brands, but is very careful about
product origin, quality and efficacy
when speaking about skincare. She
is aware of controversial actives (
silicones, parabens, micro plastics,
allergens….) and tries to avoid them.
• She is healthy but not necessarily
vegan. She does her best to source
food products locally and if possible
organic.
• She is between 35 to 65 years old.
• Most of the time she is a working
woman and might also occupies a
management position.
• She is financially independent and
cash spender.
• She is socially engaged and supports
the defense of human rights.
• Her working and social life is intense.
• She loves cultural activities as well
as travelling. She is eager on taking
care of her body and soul. She loves
new challenges.
OUR TECHNOLOGIES
The Precursor Technology identifies a particular category of active
ingredients composed by essential nutrients able to boost the skin’s innate
regenerative and protective mechanisms.
This technology, contained in nearly all the Rivoli’s products, feeds the skin
with precursor elements which are converted by the skin itself into
natural biological actives, guaranteeing exceptional personalized and
intelligent high performing skincare treatments.
In biochemistry* the term “precursor” refers to a chemical compound that
activates a metabolic pathway** into cells; during this reaction the precursor
element is normally transformed into another compound.
WHAT IS A PRECURSOR?
the nutrients found in
food..
.. are transformed by the
digestive system into
glucose, amino acids ...
…and used by the body
to create energy and
implement self-
subsistence processes.
As well as
HOW DO PRECURSORS WORK? (1)
The precursor ingredients (= nutrients)
are transformed by skin cells, through a
natural reaction.
In new molecules useful
for the skin (vitamins,
proteins..).

NATURAL
PRODUCTION IS
BOOSTED
CLASSICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS ADVANCED SKIN PRECURSORS
The skin intelligently converts precursor
s into natural biological compounds.
COMPARISON BETWEEN CLASSICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS AND
PRECURSORS
• The skin continues to produce its own active molecules despite ageing, stress and
deficiencies.
• The skin learns how to “work” again (“training” concept for the skin in order to
boost skin natural mechanism, particularly important in skin maintenance and anti-
aging action).
• Produced by our cells, the resulting active molecules are in the most compatible
form that we can ever produced by chemistry.
• A precursor ingredient is often smaller and more stable than the synthetic or
natural equivalent active molecule, ensuring a better penetration and efficacy.
• An "intelligent" and modular use of active ingredients, converted by the skin
when/if needed.
BENEFITS OF
is complex of hydrophilic (glycerine, pentylene glycol) and
lipophilic substances (ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acid, squalene..) that
mimics the multi-lamellar structure of a healthy skin perfectly
(biomimetic).
Expensive but extremely performing it is generally used in pharmaceutical
products, due to its composition and effectiveness.
We find it in a high concentration in all products, except the ones that can’t
contain it due to their galenic form (not contain in: L’Eau de Jour N°02 L’Eau
de Nuit, Tonique Relaxant, Mousse Nettoyante, Base Traitante and For your
Lips).
Composed by hydrophilic elements and skin alike lipids :
(Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Squalene, Ceramides, Phytosterols from Shea
Butter and Phospholipids), this lamellar structure mimics the “cemented wall”
structure of the stratum corneum (upper layer of the skin) made by corneocytes
and lipid substances (Triglycerides, Squalene, Ceramides, Cholesterol,
Phospholipids).
THE STRUCTURE COMPOSITION (1)
STRATUM CORNEUM
• Several layers of corneocytes (bricks) forms a tight barrier against physical and
chemical aggressions and limit TEWL.
• Intercellular lipids (mortar) holds together corneocytes.
• Natural Moisturizing Factor is composed by water soluble compounds that absorb water
and maintain moisture
THE STRUCTURE COMPOSITION (2)
Skin lamellar structure
SKIN MIMETISM
• Strengthens the skin barrier against external aggressions and a reduced
TEWL (emulsifier by skincare benefits)
• Creates a unique texture by silky finish that offers a velvet and smooth
after feel. Non-occlusive finish.
• Biomimetic (mimics the layered organization of the skin), mild and skin-
friendly (highly affine with the skin and its ecosystem), it is particularly
adapted for sensitive and dry skin.
• Limits the use of chemical emulsifiers.

Invisible to the naked eye, our bodies play host to
trillions of microorganisms.
This elaborate ecosystem is called skin microbiota
(or ecosystem also called skin flora) and is composed
all these microbes (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, viruses,
and mites living) that provide protection against
pathogens and playing an important role in
modulating the host’s cutaneous innate and adaptive
immune systems.

STRESS FACTORS
PRECURSOR OF NEW LIPIDS
It acts feeding the skin with phytosterols (lipid molecule that plays an important role in
cell membrane) that are used as biological precursors for the formation of new lipids,
that ensure an healthy homeostasis equilibrium and are crucial to maintain the skin’s
barrier function.
The PRECURSOR OF NEW LIPIDS is a synergistic complex of:
BENEFITS:
It supports the hydrolipidic film and preserve skin barrier integrity
• It re-equilibrates imbalanced skins by stresses or hormonal fluctuations
• It firms up the skin
PHYTOSTEROLS
(important constituent of cell membranes,
together with phospholipids) from soya
beans and Wild Yam root (Dioscorea
Villosa)
OLEYL ALCOHOL
skin-friendly carrier system based on to
ameliorate bioavailability
Action 3: limits photo-aging
The photo-aging is the cause of around 90% of
extrinsic ageing and depends by an over-exposure to
sun radiations.
The longer is the wavelength of the radiation, the easier it
is for them to penetrate the skin.
• UVB rays penetrate to the epidermis and are the
main cause of erythema and burns.
• The UVA rays penetrate very deeply into the skin,
until dermis. They cause free radicals, photo aging
and pigmentary disorders.
PRECURSOR OF PANTOTHENIC AND LINOLEIC ACID
To contrast skin aging caused by UV light.
ASPRivoli® precursor complex of pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) and linoleic acid
reactivates the skin’s natural antioxidant mechanisms to limit the oxidation of cutaneous
proteins.
The PRECURSOR OF PANTOTENIC AND LINOLEIC ACID contains:
BENEFITS:
• The skin is preserved from oxidative stress
• The skin is less prone to skin redness and photo aging
PANTHENYL TRIACETATE

PROLINE
precursor of proteins for phosphorylation, a
chemical process to make proteins usable
by our body to repair DNA
HYDROLYZED PLANT PROTEINS AND
ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE
play the role of energetic stimuli to accelerate
skin DNA reparation and stimulate the activity of
antioxidant enzymes.
Action 1: repairing damages caused by external stresses
Action 2: acting on the skin barrier for anti-aging benefits
An healthy structure of the stratum corneum
is fundamental for a proper skin barrier
function, as it regulates transepidermal water
loss and protects against the environment.
BUT different internal and external factors
can weaken the skin barrier function and
make it more prone dehydration and to external
attack, leading to the development of the first
signs of ageing.
This phenomena is worst in aged skin, by
weaken barrier function and increased level of
water-loss.
Lack of
hydration
Lack of lipids
components
into stratum
corneum
External
aggressions
Harsh
cosmetics
Climatic
conditions
Detergents
and bathing
STRESS FACTORS
PRECURSOR OF PROTEINS
To reinforce the skin barrier function is essential to preserve the skin from external
attack and mechanical stresses.
That’s possible through the precursor of proteins, that contains:
BENEFITS
• The skin is reinforced from the inside and less prone to damage caused by
external aggressions and mechanical stress
• Firming
HYDROLYZED AMINO ACIDS
extracted from oats to increase protein
synthesis and reinforce the skin structure
against mechanical stresses
VITAMIN B3 (NIACINAMIDE)
Helps to replenish the hydrolipidic film
improving the synthesis of fatty acids
ADENOSINE TRIPHOSPHATE
provides cellular energy to support
cellular processes
Action 2: acting on the skin barrier for anti-aging benefits
RICINUS COMMUNIS OIL ( CASTOR OIL)
This vegetable oil has the particularity of creating a protective film on the skin to maintain its hydration.
Benefits:
• Moisturizing
• Regenerating
Action 3: hydrating & nourishing
TAMARIND SEED EXTRACT
Tamarind seed extract, thanks to its film-forming and moisture-regulating properties, promotes a skin hydration
and helps maintain the skin softness. The skin regains suppleness and smoothness.
BENEFITS
• Hydrating and smoothing
This active ingredient is composed by:
- polysaccharides, extracted from tamarind seeds,
able to form a film on the skin surface to maintain
skin moisture
- Pentylene glycol acts as a supplement to enhance
hydration
Formation of a film on skin surface

Training final June _2023 CHINA-V2.pptx

  • 2. • Kuno and Peter Schweikert : the perfect synergy of 2 brothers towards the creation of a Swiss family- owned group of companies specialized in cosmetics. THE FOUNDERS
  • 3. • Located in Geneva, where refinement meets luxury. • 100% produced in the Emmental area (near Bern, capital of Switzerland). • A tradition of craftmanship, known for its quality, reliability and precision. THE SWISS MADE LABEL
  • 4. THE ROOTS 1916 2007 Rivoli Cosmétiques SA Temmentec AG TODAY Between tradition and innovation.
  • 5. THE VALUE CHAIN Scientific committee Development of new formulas Formulation and production Composed of in-house R&D members and external specialists. Innovation in the design and development of new formulas. Tradition and innovation in the production of cosmetics products. Tests are performed by independent European testing laboratories. Clinical Testings (external)
  • 6. THE BRAND RIVOLI is a Swiss family own “niche” brand Its scope: to offer to a discerning clientele a series of skincare products capable of promoting, maintaining and repairing the skin for a healthy and bright look. How: This means to invest heavily in: - selecting the best ingredients - developing formulation of the products with great care for the skin and the environment. - Clinical testing to prove product efficacy
  • 7. THE PHILOSOPHY The skin is intelligent. Thanks to our intelligent technologies Rivoli can offer skincare
  • 9. EFFICACY Use of specific active ingredients at effective % and biomimetical formulations for skin barrier enhancement. enhancement. PROVEN RESULTS Clinical test on finished products and not only on the single active ingredients. SAFETY Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. Extensive blacklist. SUSTAINABILITY High recyclability grade of packagings. Produced in our own ISO-14001 certified plant using only renewable energy. THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY
  • 10. the precursors The systematic usage of precursors of actives is one of the key reasons explaining the excellent efficacy of the RIVOLI products. the multi-lamellar structures The multi-lamellar structures is a technology used in dermatology products. RIVOLI products contain up to 30% of MLS to make formulations more skin-friendly. THE EFFICACY
  • 11. We go far beyond simple, subjective product evaluations by a panel of consumers. We do not rely on efficacy claims of single ingredients. Our finished products are subjected to stringent clinical trials conducted by an independent laboratory in order to measure their true efficacy. THE CLINICALS
  • 12. THE TESTS The ingredients used in our products are selected according to very strict criteria that go far beyond what is required by Swiss and European legislation. THE BLACKLIST We rigorously apply the precautionary principle that any questionable or controversial ingredient will not be used. This includes any presence of possible heavy metal content and endocrine disruptors in a given ingredient. THE SAFETY
  • 13. RIVOLI is committed to taking all necessary measures to minimize the impact of its products on the environment. «Clean» formulas: • We prioritize the use of ingredients of natural origin or biosynthesis «Ecoresponsible» Packaging • We are constantly improving the recyclability of our packaging. THE SUSTAINABILITY
  • 14. THE RIVOLI LADY • Fashion wise, she is interested in ethical niche brands but she also loves classic masterpieces. • Speaking about beauty, she is a discerning customer. She loves new brands, but is very careful about product origin, quality and efficacy when speaking about skincare. She is aware of controversial actives ( silicones, parabens, micro plastics, allergens….) and tries to avoid them. • She is healthy but not necessarily vegan. She does her best to source food products locally and if possible organic. • She is between 35 to 65 years old. • Most of the time she is a working woman and might also occupies a management position. • She is financially independent and cash spender. • She is socially engaged and supports the defense of human rights. • Her working and social life is intense. • She loves cultural activities as well as travelling. She is eager on taking care of her body and soul. She loves new challenges.
  • 16. The Precursor Technology identifies a particular category of active ingredients composed by essential nutrients able to boost the skin’s innate regenerative and protective mechanisms. This technology, contained in nearly all the Rivoli’s products, feeds the skin with precursor elements which are converted by the skin itself into natural biological actives, guaranteeing exceptional personalized and intelligent high performing skincare treatments.
  • 17. In biochemistry* the term “precursor” refers to a chemical compound that activates a metabolic pathway** into cells; during this reaction the precursor element is normally transformed into another compound. WHAT IS A PRECURSOR?
  • 18. the nutrients found in food.. .. are transformed by the digestive system into glucose, amino acids ... …and used by the body to create energy and implement self- subsistence processes. As well as HOW DO PRECURSORS WORK? (1)
  • 19. The precursor ingredients (= nutrients) are transformed by skin cells, through a natural reaction. In new molecules useful for the skin (vitamins, proteins..). The same way HOW DO PRECURSORS WORK? (2)
  • 20. Skin Skin NATURAL PRODUCTION IS BOOSTED CLASSICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS ADVANCED SKIN PRECURSORS The skin intelligently converts precursor s into natural biological compounds. COMPARISON BETWEEN CLASSICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS AND PRECURSORS
  • 21. • The skin continues to produce its own active molecules despite ageing, stress and deficiencies. • The skin learns how to “work” again (“training” concept for the skin in order to boost skin natural mechanism, particularly important in skin maintenance and anti- aging action). • Produced by our cells, the resulting active molecules are in the most compatible form that we can ever produced by chemistry. • A precursor ingredient is often smaller and more stable than the synthetic or natural equivalent active molecule, ensuring a better penetration and efficacy. • An "intelligent" and modular use of active ingredients, converted by the skin when/if needed. BENEFITS OF
  • 22.
  • 23. is complex of hydrophilic (glycerine, pentylene glycol) and lipophilic substances (ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acid, squalene..) that mimics the multi-lamellar structure of a healthy skin perfectly (biomimetic). Expensive but extremely performing it is generally used in pharmaceutical products, due to its composition and effectiveness. We find it in a high concentration in all products, except the ones that can’t contain it due to their galenic form (not contain in: L’Eau de Jour N°02 L’Eau de Nuit, Tonique Relaxant, Mousse Nettoyante, Base Traitante and For your Lips).
  • 24. Composed by hydrophilic elements and skin alike lipids : (Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Squalene, Ceramides, Phytosterols from Shea Butter and Phospholipids), this lamellar structure mimics the “cemented wall” structure of the stratum corneum (upper layer of the skin) made by corneocytes and lipid substances (Triglycerides, Squalene, Ceramides, Cholesterol, Phospholipids). THE STRUCTURE COMPOSITION (1)
  • 25. STRATUM CORNEUM • Several layers of corneocytes (bricks) forms a tight barrier against physical and chemical aggressions and limit TEWL. • Intercellular lipids (mortar) holds together corneocytes. • Natural Moisturizing Factor is composed by water soluble compounds that absorb water and maintain moisture THE STRUCTURE COMPOSITION (2)
  • 27. • Strengthens the skin barrier against external aggressions and a reduced TEWL (emulsifier by skincare benefits) • Creates a unique texture by silky finish that offers a velvet and smooth after feel. Non-occlusive finish. • Biomimetic (mimics the layered organization of the skin), mild and skin- friendly (highly affine with the skin and its ecosystem), it is particularly adapted for sensitive and dry skin. • Limits the use of chemical emulsifiers. BENEFITS OF

Editor's Notes

  1. Behind Rivoli it is not a marketing concept but a real family affair – the synergy of 2 brothers towards the creation of swiss family owned group of companies specialized in cosmetics. As active ingredients manufacturer they gave themselves the challenge of creating the skincare of their dream based on unique and innovative technologies. Kuno Schweikert – today involved in the brand as Technical Director Kuno is supervising the development of product. He holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry (biochemistry focuses on understanding the chemical basis which allows biological molecules -lipids, proteins, nutrients.. - to give rise to the processes that occur within living cells and between cells). Biosynthesis is a multi-step, enzyme-catalyzed process where nutrients are converted into more complex molecules. Peter Schweikert – today CEO of Rivoli, Peter is supervising the marketing and sales department and very much involved within the strategic development of the brand.
  2. Not only a family affair – but a Swiss family affair– Rivoli is born in Geneva is the place of luxury and refinement- where our commercial offices are based. Rivoli skincare are 100% produced in the Emmental area. The Swiss label if renowned for the tradition of craftmandship for its quality, reliability and precision.
  3. RIVOLI - NOT A MARKETIG CONCEPT - A REAL STORY BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION. Belonging to a Swiss family group RIVOLI IS THE RESULT 100 years of expertise in cosmetic research, development and manufacturing for third parties. Temmentec AG: with its roots going back to 1916, Temmentec is the oldest cosmetics manufacturing company in Switzerland. Its formulation capacities as well as its state of the art production facilites contribute to its reputation as leading cosmetics producer. Torstone SA: owner of the brand RIVOLI la BEAUTÉ Intelligente, Torstone’s Head Office is located in Geneva.
  4. THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTROLLING THE ENTIRE VALUE CHAIN IS WHAT DEFINES RIVOLI – reliability , flexibility, proactivity…
  5. Rivoli is described by all that : a unique swiss high vegan skincare that was born from decades of expertise in all aspects of cosmetics : from the discovery of powerful molecules continuing to the formulation and production of finest skincare, hidden onto a sleek and elegant packaging
  6. la BEAUTÉ Intelligente summarizes our philosophy and mission: offer to a discerning clientele personalized and technologically advanced skincare products using the natural intelligence of the skin to protect and regenerate itself.
  7. EFFICACY / SKIN FRIENDLY / SUSTAINABILITY
  8. What does that mean?
  9. All RIVOLI’s skincare are designed to be as sustainable as possible from formula to end user packaging as well as production process. Vegan: Each product of the range has undergone a rigorous certification process to assure each ingredient and processes comply with The Vegan Society’s strict requirements. This means that Rivoli must not use any animal product, by-product or derivative, neither testing of any sorts on animals, conducted at the initiative of the company or on its behalf, or by third parties. The vegan “sunflower” is a well‐established and respected international trademark that shows that Rivoli stands for quality and ethical products. With this trusted label one can be confident that Rivoli skincare offers only the very best of cosmetics for the respect of the skin.
  10. To describe our target customer before we start explaining the products one by one.
  11. EFFICACY / SKIN FRIENDLY / SUSTAINABILITY
  12. All products are developed around ASP RIVOLI Precursor Technology
  13. *biochemistry is the branch of science that focuses on understanding the chemical basis which allows biological molecules -lipids, proteins, nutrients.. - to give rise to the processes that occur within living cells and between cells **linked series of chemical reactions occulting within a cell
  14. CLASSICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENTS They remain at the surface of the skin so they are eliminated more rapidly than precursor ingredients and give ”discordant messages” to the skin. ADVANCED SKIN PRECURSORS “Train” the skin to produce what it needs and provide active compounds that have some structure as the ones that are normally contained into the skin. They create a ”reservoir” effect into the skin.
  15. SENSITIVE SKIN Sensitive skin usually is described as a skin type by higher reactivity than normal skin with responses to external factors ranging from itching and dryness to intense inflammatory reactions . Individuals with sensitive skin can exhibit a predisposition to skin barrier damage.
