Before Christmas in Poland, people do shopping, cook traditional dishes like carp and mushroom soup, clean their houses, and decorate Christmas trees. On Christmas Eve, families visit each other, open presents, share wafers, sing carols, and eat meals. On Christmas Day, people visit family, go for walks, sometimes sing carols, and eat dinner. Decorations include baubles, bells, angels, and lights on trees as well as large decorated trees in streets. People open presents in the evening of Christmas Eve and receive many gifts. New Year's Eve involves parties and fireworks. Traditional carols include Silent Night and They Came to Bethlehem.
