MIS stands for Management Information System which studies people, technology, and their relationships within organizations. A MIS is a system that provides managers with processed data and information reports to aid in decision making. Characteristics of a good MIS include long term planning, providing a holistic view of the organization, being planned top-down so decision makers provide direction, and reporting exceptional situations.
