                                              By: Ana Bombin
When and where was the structure built?
5 may 2009, Plaza de Castilla, Madrid
Why was the structure built?
So Repsol could initially have their offices but now it is for Bankia

What was/is its purpose? (You can give a little background history here!)
First this building was going to be built in in another plot not very far away from were it is now. It was first going to
be built were the Madrid water tower had been standing for many years. Some of the neighbours in this area
protested and they had to find another place for this tower to be built. So they found space in el (Paseo de la
Castellana) in an area were it belonged to the Real Madrid FC. In the middle of the building process Repsol decided to
sell it and sold it to Caja Madrid which later on passed it to Bankia.

What are the architectural features that make this structure special? (think about all the bridge shapes we learned
about!)
it is special because it only has 2 peers were it joins up at the top and holds the 3 central glass cubes in place.

What were some of the challenges engineers faced when building this structure? How did they overcome these?
Only having 2 peers holding the entire building. They overcame it by measuring.

How long did it take to complete the building of the structure?
From the 8 of October 2004 to 5 May 2009

What interesting stories or ‘fun facts’ can be found about this structure?
That it has changed owner 2 times. It is also the tallest out of the four skyscrapers.
