The author found creating their first tone card using After Effects software very difficult as they kept forgetting to set key frames and made the cards too long, preventing the text from moving as intended. However, subsequent cards were easier to make as they learned from mistakes. The author also changed word opacity so text would darken and disappear at the end of cards, allowing them to effectively mimic tone cards from The Possession.

1. When I made the first tone card I found is
very difficult to use the software
programme. I kept on forgetting to make
sure I set the key frames and made the tone
cards last too long. Without setting the key
frames the text wouldn’t move in the
direction I wanted it to.
After making one tone card, I found is easier
to make the rest as I was new to using After
Effects. I more tone cards such as ‘A Dark
Mystery’ ‘A New Beginning’. With the other
tone cards I used had to delete the text and
write it again. I had to make a few
adjustments but I didn’t find them hard.
I also changed the opacity of the words so
that when it got to the last milliseconds it
would change to a darker grey colour and
then disappearoff the screen. I found this
effective because we wanted to make similar
tone cards to The Possession and I was able
to do so.
