How do we get prevent the public toilet seats
from being soiled by urine?
EXPERIMENT AND INTERVIEWS
Clean a couple of seats and and wait for people
who go into the cubicle just for urinating and
asking them for a short interview

• I will lift it up if the toilet seats is
clean
• If it is already dirty, doesn’t
make a difference anymore
• Normally I only use the urinal
and not the toilet bowls
• I don’t like squeezing at the
urinal or waiting for people
• I can aim quite well (with a
laugh). I am trained by my wife!
• Walk straight to the cubicle and
urinated without lifting seats
• There are a number of people at
the urinals but almost fully
occupied. There are 2 urinals
available
• Went in and observed that the
seats have some drips though
was totally clean previously
• Think that he can easily use the
toilet without soiling the seats
• It is always never perfectly clean
in the first place so it is fine even
if he make it dirty
• It is only occasional that he uses
the toilet bowl so the problem is

already dirty as they are not the

• Feel that as long as he don’t do
it often, it is not his fault
