 There are 3 types of photographs in Part 1.
 Photographs of one person (3,4 questions)
 Photographs of more than one person (4,5 questions)
 Photographs of both people and objects/scenes. (2,3 questions)
a. Photographs of people (one person and more than one person)
Before listening, you should ask yourself the questions below:
- Who is the man/woman/ are they?
- Where is the man/the woman/ are they?
- What are they doing?
- What do they look like?

only.
- Before listening, you should ask yourself the questions below:
- where is it?
- what is happening?
- what can you see?
- Who can you see?
- What is the person doing / are they doing?
3. Common distractors.
 In Part 1, some of the answers are designed to cheat you. Below are
common distractors in English.
1. incorrect information/ partially true statements
(wrong location, wrong condition, wrong activity, wrong person, wrong
description).
2. similar sounding words.
3. Incorrect interpretations (mislead you by including one or two
words about things you can see)
4. Out-of-context words
 Look at the examples below:

A. The carpenter is hammering a nail. (correct answer)
B. The snail is crawling up the wall. (similar sounding words: snail/nail)
C. The carpet is nailed to the wall. (similar sounding word and incorrect information: incorrect subject)
D. The handyman is putting away his tools. (incorrect information: incorrect verbs)
3. Common distractors
 Example 2
A. The tourist is buying some postcards. (out of context word)
B. The passenger is checking his bags. (incorrect information)
C. The traveler is pushing his luggage ahead of him. (incorrect information)
D. The man is pulling his suitcase behind him. (correct answer)
