Research Paper On Pope Benedict Xi
Pope Benedict XI Efforts to End War I
Pope Benedict XI must be one of the greatest Papal ever. At the time of his leadership it was a
moment great quest by Christians in Europe and the world to get someone with divine prophetic
call to shape the end of the war I. Pope Benedict XI is hailed as having had great desire to help
Europe stop carnage and destruction of innocent lives and property. He must have used his gifted
voice to call for warring nation to make peace by use of peaceful means such as diplomacy and
treats that could define the disputed boundaries and territories. Off course, war I was majorly
caused by unlawful annexation of territories and lack of humanity.
It might have been easy task, but I am sure Pope Benedict had concrete

College Tuition Cost Essay
A simultaneous groan can be heard across the country by every college student as a new semester
begins. Everyone knows how expensive college can be and a lot of students fresh out of high
school don t have enough money to pay for it. In 1980, when taking into consideration the cost of
both private and public universities, the average four year college tuitioncost was $23,000
(Melchor). Recently, the average four year cost can be $70,000, and the average debt per student
is $27,000 (Melchor). Because of these rising numbers, there has been an increase in research ways
to lower these costs. An analysis of raising college tuition reveals one challenge facing college
administration and students: finding infallible solutions to lower the cost of... Show more content on

Steven Pearlstein, a researcher and writer on the Washington Post, firmly believes that this
would reduce the need to hire lecturers and adjunct (Pearlstein). Even so, Noah Smith, another
researcher, points out that, if research was in fact not needed, then less professors would be
needed, and far more lecturers should be hired. Smith also mentions that there is a reason we
have researchers do research. He says, In science and engineering, university professors are one
of the main forces behind the U.S. s innovative edge. They produce important basic research and
pioneering technologies, and attract top talent from all over the world. If you replace research
professors with lecturers in science and engineering or force professors to forgo research for
teaching, which is the same thing you remove a long term driver of America s competitive
advantage and productivity growth. So Pearlstein s pitch to helping college spending decrease may
not be as beneficial as one would hope, because research conducted at universities under college
professors has greatly impacted the country s

Determinants And Drivers Of Entry Modes
Determinants and Drivers of Entry Modes
Within the Aviation Industry
Rory S Smith
Global Strategy
State University of New York: Empire College The region of Asia and its surrounding areas are
the fastest growing profitable markets for the airline industry. Countries like China with its vast
economic expansion is attracting more businesses and manufacturers to the region. As such, air
travel demand is higher than before and western based airlines like United, Delta and American
continue to compete to enter these markets or even close to it. It is without a doubt that gaining at
least one landing spot anywhere in the Asian market can significantly improve the route structure
for airlines and profit. This paper will seek to explore the drivers of entry modes as it relates to the
aviation industry. It will look at Delta Air Linesand how such a company entered the Asian market
after its merger with former US carrier Northwest Airlines. This paper will examine the process of
the merger and the challenges Delta faced while entering a new market with a new logo and
strategy. It will seek to identify the airline industry strategy as it relates to the BCG matrix using
examples from various airlines such as American. Entry Modes in the Airline Industry Air
transportation has significantly impact the expansion of world trade and tourism in many countries
around the world. The industry continues to

Trotsky Vs Stalin
After Lenin s death in January of 1924, it became apparent that a power struggle between
Trotsky and Stalin had already long been brewing and would soon become far greater. Stalin had
quite a different background than both Trotsky and Lenin. Lyons had explained that Stalin had
come from a different background than Trotsky and Lenin, one where he had never even left
Russia. His background largely contributed to his varying perceptions of Russia and its regime,
along with his approach as to how he would come to power. Lyons wrote, He believed that the
Communists had enough to do in Russia itself. Stalin not only headed the the Secretariat as general
secretary but led the Organizational Bureau as well, which gave him control over the party
machinery and personnel (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). As the notes about the interwar period had stated,
Stalin was rather calculating and had conceived a strategy that would allow for him to gain control
of the state.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After doing so, in 1929 Trotsky had lost his position of power. This would in turn lead to Trotsky
fleeing to Mexico and eventually succumbing to his death, as ordered by Stalin. After doing so,
Lyons wrote, Stalin now felt strong enough to launch a massive program to nationalize the
economy and transform Russia into a first class industrial power as quickly as possible. He
decided to bring the entire economy under state control by nationalizing all industry and abolishing
private ownership of land in favor of a system of collectivization (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). Stalin
immediately began to implement new policies while abolishing the old

Allies To The NAACP
The NAACP has a number of allies, and also opponents. Some examples of allies would include
the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), the National
Organization for Women (NOW), and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, because they
each represent minority factions of society that have traditionally faced discrimination ( Types of
Interest Groups ). Other allied groups would be the American Civil Liberties Union and other
liberal organizations that are dedicated to equality under the law. Some public interest groups
may also be allies to the NAACP, as improved societal equality aids the common good of the
people. Working with this variety of groups can provide the NAACP with a great deal of benefits.

1984 Love And Hate Quotes
Winston s emotions of love and hate are interchangeable and have no stable target because the Party
is able to control the exact moments in which these emotion are expressed; by torturing Winston
and forcing him to leave his emotions vulnerable, the Party is able to fully control the target of
Winston s emotions and make them authentic.
Emotions, especially hatred, become chaotic and unclear when the Party members are able to
reveal them. During the Two Minutes Hate while he is staring at Goldstein s face on the screen,
Orwell writes: Suddenly, by the sort of violent effort with which one wrenches one s head away
from the pillow in a nightmare, Winston succeeded in transferring his hatred from the face on the
screen to the dark haired girl behind him (15). Wrenches conveys how Winston is able to quickly
transfer his hate from Goldstein to the girl behind him, demonstrating how little the recipient of
hatred matters. The feeling of hate is so strong that the target has no importance, as long as the
hatred is expressed. The phrase violent effort highlights the feeling of urgency to release emotion
during the Two Minutes Hate. Any outward expression of emotion is condemned in the society,
therefore the feeling of hatred becomes uncontrollable and frantic. Winston ... Show more content

In describing his thoughts on Julia when he first saw her, Winston says, I hated the sight of you,
he said. I wanted to rape you and then murder you afterwards. Two weeks ago I thought seriously
of smashing your head in with cobblestone (121). Winston s hate for Julia is evidently severe
because he seriously thought of killing her. The hatred feels even more real because not only did
he want to murder her, he also wanted to rape and degrade her. The hate is graphic and raw which
makes it feel real, but his feelings change so quickly to love that the authenticity of these feelings

Paper About Happiness
Beginning this paper with having to watch a movie brought me a lot of excuses on dreading to
watch the movie because I am not a movie person. With it only being a few minutes into this
movie I was hooked. Finally, after watching the movie I quickly learned that successful people do
not make excuses in any manner. Watching a successful movie like this brings hope to a lot of
people. Whether or not they will put that hope to use to among themselves we will never know,
but everyone is set with the same chances as anyone else. Everyone has one specific talent in their
life whether they know it or not. All men and women are created equally, whether or not people

Commodification Of Halloween
With the increase in reinterpretations of death and Halloween symbols, two fundamental things
occurred, the mass commodification of Halloween and a decontextualization of the symbols of
death. In 1978 the premiere of Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, directly placed the holiday
itself in relation to horror and gruesome death, more so than the introduction of gothic horror
ever did (Rogers 110; Khapaeva 58). The introduction of explicit horror, according to Rogers,
created. a coded language that enables authors and invites their audiences to explore their fears,
hidden desires, and anxieties (110). This established a creative space in which fantasy and
dissociation could be merged creating a popularization of death without actually dealing with the
reality of death itself. It created a space where the narrative of horror and death could be
controlled and regulated, through established archetypes. This directly contrasted the collective
psyche of the 1970s and 80s in the United States, which was dealing with the ramifications of the
AIDS epidemic (the worst epidemic since Polio), and an increase in social, religious, and political
conservatism (Khapaeva 78). Through horror movies and Halloween, social anxieties could be
dealt with in an a political and creative way, while still maintaining the sanitized separation of
hospital and culture.
In the contemporary period, Halloween s popularity has increased. Personal expenditures on
Halloween have drastically increased since the 2000s, to create a multi billion dollar industry,
which has expanded the cultural awareness and practice of Halloween (Khapaeva 57). However,
this expansion has led to the commodification of Halloween, by equating it with consumer culture.
This has significant implications for the cultural conception of death as it equate previously potent
symbols with cheap goods. But this might have been by design, as Grider argues that the mass
commercialization of Halloween is another way in which collectively western culture can control
the potentially dangerous incursion of the supernatural world in our everyday lives (10). Through
the ownership of material goods associated with Halloween, the narrative and context of the
concepts are further

Maus by Art Spiegelman Essay
Why are comics not appreciated as much as the dry narratives of novels in the literary world? A
comic is composed of symbols to express concepts shared by all people in their own social
environment, and provide more tools than conventional art to truly show artistic intention.
Comics exist to expose the ethnic representations that seek to control the development of collective
perceptions, memories and emotions and especially fear by investigating the techniques through
which this control is maintained. Maus I is a true account of a Holocaust survivor, Vladek
Spiegelman, and his experiences as a young Jew during the horrors leading up to the confinement in
Auschwitz. Maus II is about Vladek recounting his own history to his son Art ... Show more content

Spiegelman uses mice, cats, pigs and other animals to portray the victims and events in the
Holocaust. He uses real features of human beings such as hands, feet and emotions to give the
animals the full potential to relate to. Maus reveals that the characters portrayed as mice are
being seen in sharper relief as human concerns in the world of mice. Spiegelman decided on
interesting but possibly offensive use of different animals to use. The first type of animal which
appears in this comic is the mouse (MausI:5). The form of mice is used to represent the Jewish
people during the Holocaust and as of now too. The Polish police were involved in the arrest of
innocent Jewish mice (27). The Polish people were pigs and Germans were represented as cats.
The Germans appearance as cats began to make sense in the way how cats chase, hunt and kill
mice (33). This comic book was translated into an easily readable format to educate the history of
the Holocaust to the younger generations.
Second, the choice of a comic format serves as a vital aspect in the reader s understanding of the
visual society and making awareness through generations as more attuned to the image than to the
word. In Vladek s world, being and living as a human meant living in fear. Vladek escapes the fear
of death for a time through the intercession of an S.S. officer who wanted to learn English from
him and in return provided him with some protection (78). This

Food Stamps and The Supplemental Assistance Program
As I drive by 2520 Irving Blvd Street, I distinctly recall what it felt like to walk out of the
Department of Workforce Services building after I figured out that my family qualified for food
stamps. There wasn t a rainbow that day, after sharp flowing sprinkles fell from the sky. The
parking lot was vacant for the most part. As our familywalked to our old, beat up car my motherhad
shed a tear of relief. For some people that don t know what food stamps (S.N.A.P.) are, it is benefits
from the government usually based on total gross income. The total amount of money the state will
provide depends on several criteria. Before you judge, which I odds are you ve already done,
given that I just told you that my family was impermanently on public assistance. First off, my
mom tried to do everything right. She stayed up late on Wednesday nights clipping coupons. She
baked her own bread. She steered away from credit card debt. She drove a 10 year old car. She
even tried to get her GED except her French is stronger than her English and she couldn t
comprehend much. Amongst the United States is handling an ongoing issue about the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (S.N.A.P.), which is nearly dropping 47 million

Reflective Essay On Culture
According to Sellnow et al., culture is the system of shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and norms
that guide what is considered appropriate among identifiable group of people (44). Culture
involves why we believe in certain things and why we act certain ways. There are many different
kinds of cultures that an individual may have. There are even groups that can be formed called
co cultures that derive from these bigger cultures. Co culture is a group comprised of a smaller
number of people who hold common values, beliefs, attitudes, and customs that differ from
those of the dominant culture (Sellnow et al. 45). For the interview I conducted, I chose
someone who had a different culture than I do. My interviewee was from Costa Rica, and
comes from a Spanish culture. I was born in Ohio, and come from a one hundred percent
American culture. The first difference in our cultures that I wanted to identify were the foods
that we eat for our meals. The second difference involved some of the things that are different in
our cultures, like how we greet people or the ways we celebrate. One could even take this further
into calling them norms which are expectations for the way group members are to behave
(Sellnow et al., 177). Lastly, I asked questions about the obvious difference in our cultures, which
would be the different languages that we speak. The first question I asked my interviewee was

Midsummer Night s Dream Irrationality
A Midsummer Night s Dream is one of many famous works written by William Shakespeare, the
greatest writer of the 17th century. It tells a story of eight lovers, four of which simply cannot

bit from this story, all you have to do is look closely. Theseus, the duke of Athens, is preparing for

Research Paper On Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights Research Paper In H.G. Bissinger s novel Friday Night Lights he goes in
depth describing the world surrounding high school football in Texas. There is nothing like
high school football in Texas, it is the best thing to happen to many of the people that live there.
Winning a high school state championship in Texas can make someone a hero for the rest of
their lives. This being said, it causes a lot of difficulties once this peak in their life is over at
such a young age. Many of these people do not know how to live with themselves after their
days of football are over. They grow up and live through their kids. Sports and academics are two
of the areas of life where parents attempt to live their dreams and ambitions through their
children. Some parents try to continue their athletic careers or have a successful athletic career
through their kids on a daily basis. This can come from them not fulfilling lifetime dreams or
having an unsuccessful career when they had the chance to participate in these athletic events.
Charlie Billingsley is a very good example of one of those parents. He lives his old running back
career through his son, Don Billingsley, who also plays running back. Charlie was a very
successful player for the Permian football team. He played in college but let alcohol become more
important than football. Charlie admitted to it in Friday Night Lights in a conversation. It is stated,

Jekyll and Hyde Analysis
In this essay on the story of Jekyll and Hyde written by Robert Louis Stevenson I will try to
unravel the true meaning of the book and get inside the characters in the story created by
Stevenson. A story of a man battling with his double personality.
In Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Hyde becomes Jekyll s demonic, monstrous alter ego. Certainly
Stevenson presents him immediately as this from the outset. Hissing as he speaks, Hyde has
quot;a kind of black sneering coolness . . . like Satan quot;. He also strikes those who witness him
as being quot;pale and dwarfish quot; and simian like. The Strange Case unfolds with the search by

An earlier party to the knowledge that Jekyll and Hyde are one, he has already lost his life to that

truths uncovered in the revelation of Hyde: improbability and quot;uttcr moral turpitude quot; (SC,
80). He sinks slowly into death, his body following the lead of his quot;sickened quot; soul. His

himself to the horror of Jekyll unveiled.
And neither can Jekyll himself, who is a suicide, as his name indicates ( Je quot; for the French

he risks death in taking his drug, but he does so quite deliberately. If not uppermost in his mind,
suicide lurks there all the same. Jekyll often uses telling language, words like quot;I had come to

The Red Tent Gender Roles
The role and strength of women in a male dominated society in biblical times is the fundamental
theme of The Red Tent. The red tent is a physical and spiritual place, where the women of Jacob s
tribe his wives, servants and daughters, could rest while menstruating and childbearing, but more
importantly, it became a safe shelter for feminist unity and companionship. The red tent provides
all the women a haven to be in their power together, to learn from one another, to be part of a
community, and to celebrate their lives without any disturbance from the male chauvinism. In the
red tent , women such as Leah, Dinah and Rachel are able to play critical and decisive roles

importance, we ought, morally, to do it. (Singer,454) John Arthur s objection to this theory is that
Singer s second premise which he calls greater moral evil principle is not the whole picture and
does not consider entitlement of individuals. He explains that Singer s claim that great moral evil
principle explains our felling or that it appears uncontroversial (singer, 454) is not sufficient since
moral equality is also important.
Arthur s criticism of Singer s view is established in his concept of a social moral code, which is a
system of principles, rules and other standards designed to guide people s conduct. (Arthur 501)
Arthur explains that our social moral code approves both great moral evil principle and entitlement
or right, which is consists of negative and positive right. Many has argued that Arthur s formulation
of positive right concept does not seems to be right. One point here is that the distinction between
positive and negative right is not as distinct as Arthur s assumption. Or there are rights that cannot
be easily assigned to negative or positive right. Consider the newborn babies

Write An Essay On Bioethanol From Ethanol To Brazil
Ethanol, also called ethyl alcohol or drinking alcohol, is an organic compound belonging to the
alcohol group. It could also be abbreviated EtOH. The hydroxyl, OH, functional group differentiates
the compound from the other organic compounds and hence shares some of the same physical and
chemical properties, with other alcohols. Ethanolis used as fuel, solvents and in alcoholic
beverages. It is also used as antiseptics, household cleaning products, varnishes and in alcohol
thermometers (Garcia). The molecular formula of ethanol is C2H6O, normally written as C2H5OH
or CH3CH2OH. The molar mass, boiling point and melting point of ethanol is 46.069g/mol,
78.29ВєC and 114.14ВєC, respectively (Ethanol). Ethanol is a colorless liquid with a slight odor,
soluble in water, flammable, volatile and evaporates easily when left in the open (Garcia). Brazil is

Bioethanol is made from renewable resources hence, it is infinite. It is greener and better for the
environment by producing fewer greenhouse gases. More planting of sugarcane meant more
uptake of CO2 and release of O2. Ethanol also produces six less molecules of carbon dioxide when
combusted versus gasoline, seen in the following equations. C2H5OH + 3 O2 пѓ 2 CO2 + 3 H2O
(ethanol combustion) versus C8H18 + 12.5 O2 пѓ 8 CO2 + 9 H2O (gasoline combustion). Finally,
a lot of countries can be self reliant because these countries can grow the crop and possibly
manufacture the fuel (Advantages). While there are many advantages, there is one major
disadvantage to worry about. This disadvantage is using it for fuel or food. Brazil does not really
have this problem, but in America, corn could be food to feed someone rather than making fuel

However, it wasn t until the early 1900s that scientists actually started using his theory to change
plant characteristics. Fast forward to 1953, when two scientists, James Watson and Francis
Crick, discovered DNA s actual structure. Later this will be very important in helping scientists
learn how to isolate and take specific genes from one plant in order to combine with others. 1982
was an important year because it was when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved
the first GMO, a diabetes medicine called Humulin. This was a big step for GMOs, as it gave
the go ahead to pharmaceutical companies that may have been hesitant to get involved with
GMOs. Also the 1980s was full of tests to see if GMO food crops were actually safe to consume,
which brings us to the 1990s. In 1992 the FDA determined that they have no basis to conclude that
bioengineered foods are any different from foods developed from traditional plant breeding. In 1994
the first GMO food the Flavr Savr tomato which was genetically altered to have a longer shelf life

Religion In Appalachia Summary
Along with a territory, comes its traditions and ways of living. One key aspect of the Appalachian
life is religion. Religion plays a major role in Appalachia as well as the creation of Berea college.
Focusing on the Christian traditions found in central and southern Appalachia, numerous scholars
examine the theology and religious doctrines of the various mountain, Evangelical, Pentecostal and
mainline denominational churches throughout the region. In the last several decades, the research
of Appalachian scholars such as Ronald L. Lewis, Dwight B. Billings, Wilma Dunaway, and others
contributed to the deconstruction of numerous economic and social myths. Until the 1970s, most

Cities Will Be The Future Of Residential Housing
Introduction.
In an urbanising world, the way people fit into cities is of great importance.
High Density is said to be the future of residential housing, although not everyone agrees to this way
of thinking.
High Density is viewed as a key strategy to manage urban growth and is becoming an increasing
feature of city plans; our very own city is an example of this.
High Density housing is defined as housing with a higher population density than the average,
typically blocks of flats and tower blocks. Density is measured in two different perspectives;
physical density related to the density of people in built density, referring to a numeric or
quantitative measure. The other is through perceived density, which is in relation to the
environment and to other participants.
In 2011, 20.7% of dwellings in Sydney were classified as high density. Australian cities are facing a
number of challenges, including a significant growth in population, growing housing affordability
crisis, a greater concern for environmental issues, transport and urban infrastructure.
It is estimated that in the near future, 2 out of 2 people will live in cities. This is due to main
reason that people naturally tend to concentrate in areas with desirable conditions. What does the
cities offer as to why it is stated that the cities will be our future .
Our cities offer close proximity to services, entertainment and employment. Building high density

Meditation Reflection
Ever since I was a little girl my parents made it clear that I needed to do this or that because it
reflects what type of family I was raised into. My family is very well known in a small little town
in Northern Michigan. Anything that I did that was against my parents expectations was
corrected in private, and then expected next time we went out. My family was persistent on
being represented well. They valued things like respect. My mom grew up in a family where
they all went to a catholic church every Sunday so it is viewed as a ritual that my she always
took part in. Therefore, if she was to go to church, then I was too. From the time that I was a
baby until I was 16 I never had the choice to choose what I wanted or what I believed. So how
was I supposed to understand other religious views that people held if I wasn t able to learn about
them? The day I questioned my own religionwas the day that I became myself. I started reading. I

What is meditation? Meditation is a conscious state of breathing techniques to enhance our mind,
focus on something, and create a sense of awareness of one s environment. In essence, it s like the
nervous system; interpreting signals throughout the body to relay information to the brain, and
being aware of what s going on around us. With this comes equanimity: composure and an
evenness in a difficult situation. Equanimity is something that I ve learned from meditation. As
your meditating you should feel very calm and composed, this is how we would like to feel all the
time. Unfortunately, our bodys have fight or flight responses to react quickly to the environment.
So by training our body and brain to react to situations that are out of our control as calm and

PlatoВґs The Symposium and it theme Compared to the French...
Life is pink, or so says Louis Armstrong s version of Edith Piaf s beautiful French song, La Vie
En Rose. Plato is arguably the most famous philosopher from Ancient Greece. The Symposium,
one of Plato s most famous works, is a brilliant piece of literature centered on a group of men
telling their own versions of what they believe to be Love. The Goddess of Love however, is the
main focus of Platos work more so than the act of actually being in love. This becomes the men s
main focal point for the duration of their speeches. Both the story and the song, depict versions of
love of Love that are relatively common. In the soft tones of La Vie En Rose, the perfection of what
being in love can become is heard clearly. Believing that everything is wonderful and it could
never change is a symptom of the rose coloured glasses Armstrong is singing about. Socrates in
believes that Love can be both horrible and bad. There are people who believe that love is the
solution to all of their problems, and those who believe that there are bad aspects that come with
being in love. Hundreds of years apart, and these two men are trying to send different messages
about the same subject love. When you agree he is neither good nor beautiful, you need not think
he is ugly and bad; he could be something in between. (Plato, P. 23) Socrates is a character whom
is famous in his own right. Though it is often believed Plato is using him as a device to speak his

Lecklider states that, Type 1 use of technology was observed as a daily occurrence by 89% of
participants...only 22% of participants observed students using one or more Type 2 technologies

How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant...
How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United
States.
Introduction
Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other
organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the
Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other
organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest
ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other
native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer
(Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long,
2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land
development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during
seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late
fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have
significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a
large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth,
reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts
of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Equality By Maya Angelou Ethos
There is not a single person in the world born evil. It is a person s experiences and the decisions
that they make in life that define them as a person, not the way they appear on the outside. And
yet, millions of people are judged solely on the colour of their skin or their gender every single day.
Maya Angelouworked her entire life to change this deafening life sentence of discrimination.
Throughout her poems Equality, Still I Rise, and A Brave and Startling Truth, Maya Angelou
develops the theme of the necessity of equality through the use of repetition, metaphor, and point of
view.

Maya Angelou also uses repetition in her poem Equality as a way to prove the necessity of
equality as the world so desperately desires it. The poem Equality successfully demonstrates the
urgent need for equality in the world, and that point is driven home by the repetition of the phrase
Equality, and I will be free (9). This phrase is vital, as it shows that only when the world is equal
can there be true freedom for everyone. Those discriminated against, such as the African American
woman portrayed in Equality, are trapped beneath the weight of those forcing them to be smaller.
The woman in this poem is fighting for acknowledgement and to be seen as equal; to no longer be
the faint whisper out of range (6). The phrase Equality, and I will be free is repeated in six lines in
a poem that is thirty lines, consistently emphasizing the fact that when equality is finally achieved,
freedom will come with it.Finally, Maya Angelou uses the poetic device metaphor to allow the
audience to visualize the true need for equality. Throughout Equality, metaphors are used to connect
the reader to the poem and to aid them in fully understanding the gravity of the need for equality.

As mentioned above, it is clearly define by the living conditions of the people withing their separate
section, the tail being the poor, the middle where the middle class in society lived and the front
where the affluent and powerful lived comfortable lives. Another theme tackled in this film is the
limitations of revolutions as we see in the news daily, most of which only aim to takeover the
system rather than completely change it for the better. This shows how revolution have become a
part of feeding the system they try to fight against rather than destroying it. Lastly, with Wilford
and the engine he built being treated as somewhat the god of the train, we are introduced to the
theme of eternal faith ( the people faith towards the train which has kept them alive from the post
apocalyptics ice age) versus humanity s free will ( their ability to have a say in how the system is
run and how they choose to live their lives) В¬something that the tail section is deprived of

Security Requirements of the Organization Essay
Security requirements of the organization
First we will ensure that the system is physically secured. The room that will house the server
will be in a secured area with multi leveled security such as a keypad and additional locks. The
room will have an air conditioner to ensure that the system remains cool and secured. Once the
routers have been configured and secured, the next thing we will put in place is ACL list. This list
would restrict movement and access to files that are not related to the job description. We will
create restrictions that will apply to workstations and must have user authentication. Once the
authentication is successful, those restrictions are then applied as Registry settings providing an

Hardening the network by conducting updating software and hardware to ensure the security of the
system is an important part of network. Hardening involves an ongoing process of ensuring that all
networking software together with the routers are password protected. These routers are updated
with the latest vendor supplied patches and fixes. Since most routers and wireless access points
provide a remote management interface which can be accessed over the network, it is essential that
such devices are protected with strong passwords. There is also a need for a security plan that will
ensure that the planned security controls are fully documented. It is the configuration management
plan, contingency plan and the incident response plan, Security awareness, a training plan and the
regulatory compliance.
Detailed suggestions of software, hardware and other security measures required.
We will use Avast antivirus, firewalls and strong passwords. Avast antivirus has a built in scan
system that will scan all emails and incoming files. It has a program that warns against harmful
sites and you can schedule full scans upon startup. It has real time shields and a built in firewall for
ultimate protection. Since firewalls act like filters, they will help monitor data traffic between your
network and the internet. Most firewalls

results of insert moulding is a single piece with the insert encapsulated by the plastic. The insert
can be made of metal or another plastic, and this was initially developed to place threading inserts
in molded parts and to encapsulate the wire plug connection on electrical cords. Insert Moulding is
also used quite extensively in the manufacture of medical devices, the typical application of insert
moulding include insert moulded need hubs, and bifurcations, as well as encapsulated electrical
components and threaded fasteners. The accuracies of insert placement and cavity features can be

Analysis Of The Book The Twilight Series
A young psychic teen hiding from the CIA embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure that is
linked to an old murder, but corrupt police, the CIA, greedy relatives, a crazy homeless man, and
the girl he falls smitten with hinder his efforts.
STORY COMMENTS
CODE NAME TRACKER: INDIGO is a highly creative and imaginative novel that is targeted for
the young adult audience. Like the TWILIGHT series one can easily envision the success of such a
series of books and a possible film franchise.
The novel has a strong hook with the idea of the protagonist having psychic skills. The script
combines a supernatural tale with drama and dark comedy. The storyline offers intrigue, action,
forbidden love, betrayal, corruption, and the supernatural. The story also offers solid twists and
turns.
The main storyline centers on the psychic teen searching for missing treasure. It s a smart story
choice, as everyone loves the idea of finding buried treasure. This gives the novel a strong,
actionable goal with merit, and it keeps the story goal focused.
The subplot of the budding teen romance supports the main storyline and is fluidly integrated.
One of the major strength of this novel is the compelling ensemble cast. Each character feels
original and refreshing. They are complex and rich in personality. There s no doubt that these
characters would attract talent if produced into a film.
The novel clearly identifies Ryan Gordon as the mystifying, insecure hero. Ryan is easy to like and

The Tudor Family Research Paper
The Tudor Family is a line of Kings and powerful Queens . The Tudor Dynasty starts with Henry
VII . Henry VIII created the Protestant Church of England so he could divorce his first wife
Catherine of Aragon , who was Catholic . He created his own church because the Pope refused to
annul the marriage . Henry had Parliament pass laws ending the power of the Pope in England. In
1534 the Act of Supremacy names the King Henry as the head of the Church of England. After
Henry s death and his son Edward s short reign , his daughter Mary I became Queen. Mary made
England Catholic again . When Mary died, Elizabeth was crowned queen and returned England to
Protestant. Queen Elizabeth, like her father Henry had a good relationship with Parliament.

was to take power away from the church officials. James saw this as a threat to his power since
the church supported him and refused to pass the Puritans request for reform. King James faced

African Americans and The Reconstruction Period
The Reconstruction Period I think is a problem for the African Americans back then. They were
treated unfairly during this period, when it was to being them a new started and hope of change.
Don t get me wrong there were some people who were for them to e happy, but not many. So, let
start at the being; where it all happened. In January of 1865, Union General William T. Sherman
issued a special field order Number 15, which temporary granted each freed family 40 acres of
land off the region of Georgia in the islands and coastal area. Also the Union Army donated
mules to them after the war was over. In the summer of 1865 when President Andrew Johnson
was in office, his first act of Reconstruction was to give back all the federal control land back to
its previous owner. When the land was giving back to the owners, freed men and women could
sign a labor contracts with the planters or they could leave the land they occupied this was called
Freedman s Bureau. Soon after when the land was giving back, the former Confederate state stated
Black Codes . Black Codes would deny African Americans to legal have equality and political
rights. Also it would require then to sign yearly labor contracts with the planters. When this happen,
Congress made the Reconstruction Act in the 1867, when the 14th (June 13, 1866) and the 15th
(February 26, 1869, ratified on February 3, 1870) Amendments. These two amendments granted
African Americans the right to vote, and equality before the law and

Observation of Earth’s Constellations Essay
Earth s galaxy, the Milky Way consists of more than 100 billion stars, many of which can be
interpreted by human visual perception, while other can only be observed with the aid of a
magnifying or light collecting optical device such as a telescope. The stars are organized into
various groupings according to their visible arrangement as observed in earth s atmosphere.
Human beings from cultures of eras bygone such as the Greeks, Romans, and Babylonians, and
bestowed most, if not all of the titles upon the constellations as we know them today. Earth s
atmosphere comprises eighty eight constellations, of which I have chosen the following five to

Cepheus is an inconspicuous constellation, which is dimmer than most and in the northern
hemisphere located west of Cassiopeia. It has been recognized that the binary star Cephei from its
constellation, will be the next Polar star between AD 3000 and 5200 (fourth and sixth century), and
will be in a position adjacent the celestial pole around AD 4000 (fifth century). The constellation
encompasses various nebulae, star clusters and galaxies such as the Milky Waywhich transverses an
area of the Cephus constellation by way of its adjoining southern space with Lacerta. The
constellation Draco is another circumpolar constellation, which is observable in the Northern
Hemisphere from the September equinox to the December solstice. It is a very luminous
constellation that consists of four stars resembling a trapezoid. Draco s constellation consists of
various interacting galaxies whose gravitational fields causes disturbances to one another and along
with galaxy clusters. I spent as much time as I could observing the stars and constellations for
this project, despite the fact that we had several days of bad whether which left us with cloudy,
cold skies. There wasn t any degree of difficulty to this project and I found it rather enjoyable and
very informative. I am giving serious consideration towards purchasing a telescope as a result of

The Cause Of The Great Potato Famine
It s 1845 and our country, Ireland, is in extreme poverty and starvation. This is getting called on
the streets the Great Famine or Potato Famine. Our crops are dying due to a disease that has been
spreading through our fields. The cause of this disease is Phytophthora infestans or, as it more
widely known, the potatoblight. This is a fungus that originated from the highlands of central
Mexico. It can infect all the potato crops in a field over the course of 3 days, which can cause
losses that can be as high as 100%. The faminehas left a devastating impact on our island. People
are dying and fleeing the country. Our population is decreasing at a rapid pace and we re losing
hope, but we can t let that happen. There are a few options left

Mental Mass Hysteria In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The hysteria behind the Salem Witch Trials seems to have come from nothing. There are multiple
theories that go from a mental mass hysteria to a physical prejudice. Going through the timeline of
the trials, theories become stronger and weaker and in the end, the answer is a matter of whichever
theory you believe has the strongest evidence, an opinion. Albeit, the easiest way to explain the
hysteria could be the easiest one to explain, which was that it was all subconsciously coincidental
mental mass hysteria. Most of the evidence presented during the trials were not strong as it was
hard to refute a hallucination someone may or may not have had. The brain is such an intelligent
organ, but at the same time is highly suggestible making it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Usually when a person has deja vu, they are more convinced that the possibility of that moment
happening before is more plausible than not. Now, take that feeling and add the stress of being
on trial and the social pressure around you to say person x is most certainly a witch. It would
certainly be easier to convince yourself that you did indeed see an apparatus of your neighbor
haunting you late at night and she is the reason you are possessed . Once again, take that with the
fact that this is happening on a mass scale and that right there is a recipe for mass hysteria. As
explained in After The Fact the physical manifestations of being possessed during these times can
be explained through science, as in physical pain caused by extreme mental stress. Add this to the
mass hysteria recipe and you could present this case to the courts as evidence for witchcraft and get
someone convicted. So far, all the parts of this conspiracy could be explained away by mental
stress manifesting in one way or another, but there is no denying the findings discovered on what
may seem like prejudiced accusing between the townspeople.

Theme Of Deception In Othello
In the play written by William Shakespeare Iago s attitude toward all the characters of the play is
very deceptive and manipulative using them for his own profit. He has the talents to deceive others
destroying their lives to better his own. His abilities to twist the truth is a highly useful tool to him.
Instead of using these abilities for the greater good, Iagofalls down an evil path to become a villain
that hurts people and ruins lives. He uses strategies such as deception and manipulation to distract
all the people around him from his true motive. Persuasiveness and excellent word choice are his
weapons to get the position of lieutenant.
Unfortunately for everyone else Iago go exactly what he wants as you can see in Act 3 when Othello
says to Iago Now art thou my lieutenant. (3.3.545) This only happened because Iago had set up
Cassio to fail by getting him drunk and luring him into fight Montano which ended with Cassio
stabbing but not killing him in front of Othello.
One of the events after this was when Othello found out that his mother s handkerchief in Cassio s
house. This is significant Desdemona tells Othello She says, It is not lost; but what an if it were?
(3.4.83) thinking she has left it in the house somewhere as she had it earlier in the day, but Othello
knowing this is a lie is finally convinced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

horse: wheresoever you had it, I ll take out no work on t (4.1.154 155). This really set Othello
over the bar. After Cassio and Bianca leave Othello emerges from the bushes he was hiding in
saying How shall I murder him, Iago?

the old them will die and they will be reborn with new understanding. Then the character will return

Ultimately Ariel is a hero because of her courage, being a mermaid living on land, and sacrificing
her soul when she falsely believes that Eric is in love with Vanessa (Ursula). Similarly, in The
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Pooh is made out to be the hero in the beginning because
of her perceived action of saving Piglet from the flood. In reality, Pooh and Piglet are both heroes
in this film because of their selfless qualities: Piglet sacrifices his home to Owl and Pooh asks
Piglet to move in with her and share her hero party. Overall, the Disney hero is more about what is
on the inside, something that has been reiterated many times songs and shows like Alena of Avalor.
As discussed above all of the characters in their respective films are considered heroes through
hero worship. Hercules for example shows all three signs of hero worship; her has a sudden
growth of unusual fame followed by a marked shift in status where people then develop a certain
sentimentality towards him (3, 54). After saving the two children in the gorge and then killing the
hydra Hercules then has a cult like following that is shown through numerous pieces of
merchandise, statues, and murals, which shows how hero worship becomes a social force that
makes the person who is being worshiped into an icon. This kind of icon status puts the hero on a
pedestal where he is viewed as different from regular people and is very sudden as explained in the

The Challenges Of Emerging Markets
For businesses, emerging market has developed into a very well chosen destination for a firm
operating well in their own country which is looking for expansion. Developed markets usually
hint at the considerations to per capita income. Limited growth opportunity and emerging market
economies usually expect an availability of a larger amount of growth opportunity. In saying that,
to maximize shareholders return and business enjoy showing their strength in their own country,
companies showing interest in saturated markets may consider the need to take part in the
emerging market to benefit largely. However, emerging markets is based around the transition to
a more market oriented economic system. But yes, it does come at the expense of risks to hurdle
over for the already successful business, particularly from a cultural and economic point of view.
If the risk is not responded to well, internationalizing into emerging markets may lead to heavy
financial woes. This paper will analyse two recent business cases namely economist.com Japanese
Electronics Firms: Eclipsed by Apple (2014) and Michael Chen s Alcatel economictimes.com (ET

business in emerging market economies but they are not equally the same. Concentrating on two

Analysis Of Adaptation Of The Military
Adaptation in the military, especially during wartime, is a known need. The adage no plan survives
first contact was not created because it sounds cool. It is an ominous warning that at some point
while executing your plan, you will be faced with unanticipated and unplanned for situations to
which you will have to adapt. Adaptation is a skill that must be attained, yet is very difficult to
learn and even more difficult to achieve effectively. Every militaryorganization, regardless of
nationality, location, posture, etc., will be required to adapt and their ability to do so effectively
may very well decide their success.
Adaptation, by its very definition, requires something to change, to be altered or presented in
another form. In order to have change, you must have something to change from , a normalcy, a
standard or regular pattern, or as the military calls it, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP s).
Tactically speaking, the use of SOP s in the development of military organizations is what permits
these organizations to develop an effective fighting force. The more knowledgeable and proficient
an organization is of executing their SOP s, the more tactically proficient they become. Through
constant and persistent training in a benign environment, each person of the organization learns and
understands their roles and responsibilities within the organization. Continued training leads to
continued improvement and ultimately to mastery of their

Purgative medicines are cheap in cost but children dislike the taste because of its bitterness. The
researchers came up with this project due to the desire of helping the parents of infected
children in convincing their kids to take good tasting purgative remedy that is cheaper in cost
and can be done at home. The researchers found out that pounded and boiled akapulko seeds are
used as an effective purgative agent. Akapulko is an herbal plant that can be used in curing skin,
stomach, lung, and mouth problems, and is well known for its sudorific, diuretic and purgative
characteristics. It can be ingested without having any side effect or contraindications. The
researchers thought of pulvoron, being a healthy, delicious, and attractive treat for all. The
akapulko seeds were consider as extender in place of the traditional rice crisps, nuts, or nougats
in the pulvoron. Established that akapulvoron could be an effective and safe purgative treat, the
researchers intended to conduct a sensory analysis of the product to determine if it would be

At the time of his leadership it was a moment great quest by Christians in Europe and the world to get someone with divine prophetic call to shape the end of the war I. Pope Benedict XI is hailed as having had great desire to help Europe stop carnage and destruction of innocent lives and property. He must have used his gifted voice to call for warring nation to make peace by use of peaceful means such as diplomacy and treats that could define the disputed boundaries and territories. • 3. College Tuition Cost Essay A simultaneous groan can be heard across the country by every college student as a new semester begins. Everyone knows how expensive college can be and a lot of students fresh out of high school don t have enough money to pay for it. In 1980, when taking into consideration the cost of both private and public universities, the average four year college tuitioncost was $23,000 (Melchor). Recently, the average four year cost can be $70,000, and the average debt per student is $27,000 (Melchor). Because of these rising numbers, there has been an increase in research ways to lower these costs. An analysis of raising college tuition reveals one challenge facing college administration and students: finding infallible solutions to lower the cost of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Steven Pearlstein, a researcher and writer on the Washington Post, firmly believes that this would reduce the need to hire lecturers and adjunct (Pearlstein). Even so, Noah Smith, another researcher, points out that, if research was in fact not needed, then less professors would be needed, and far more lecturers should be hired. Smith also mentions that there is a reason we have researchers do research. He says, In science and engineering, university professors are one of the main forces behind the U.S. s innovative edge. They produce important basic research and pioneering technologies, and attract top talent from all over the world. If you replace research professors with lecturers in science and engineering or force professors to forgo research for teaching, which is the same thing you remove a long term driver of America s competitive advantage and productivity growth. So Pearlstein s pitch to helping college spending decrease may not be as beneficial as one would hope, because research conducted at universities under college professors has greatly impacted the country s ... • 5. Trotsky Vs Stalin After Lenin s death in January of 1924, it became apparent that a power struggle between Trotsky and Stalin had already long been brewing and would soon become far greater. Stalin had quite a different background than both Trotsky and Lenin. Lyons had explained that Stalin had come from a different background than Trotsky and Lenin, one where he had never even left Russia. His background largely contributed to his varying perceptions of Russia and its regime, along with his approach as to how he would come to power. Lyons wrote, He believed that the Communists had enough to do in Russia itself. Stalin not only headed the the Secretariat as general secretary but led the Organizational Bureau as well, which gave him control over the party machinery and personnel (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). As the notes about the interwar period had stated, Stalin was rather calculating and had conceived a strategy that would allow for him to gain control of the state.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After doing so, in 1929 Trotsky had lost his position of power. This would in turn lead to Trotsky fleeing to Mexico and eventually succumbing to his death, as ordered by Stalin. After doing so, Lyons wrote, Stalin now felt strong enough to launch a massive program to nationalize the economy and transform Russia into a first class industrial power as quickly as possible. He decided to bring the entire economy under state control by nationalizing all industry and abolishing private ownership of land in favor of a system of collectivization (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). • 8. 1984 Love And Hate Quotes Winston s emotions of love and hate are interchangeable and have no stable target because the Party is able to control the exact moments in which these emotion are expressed; by torturing Winston and forcing him to leave his emotions vulnerable, the Party is able to fully control the target of Winston s emotions and make them authentic. Emotions, especially hatred, become chaotic and unclear when the Party members are able to reveal them. During the Two Minutes Hate while he is staring at Goldstein s face on the screen, Orwell writes: Suddenly, by the sort of violent effort with which one wrenches one s head away from the pillow in a nightmare, Winston succeeded in transferring his hatred from the face on the screen to the dark haired girl behind him (15). Wrenches conveys how Winston is able to quickly transfer his hate from Goldstein to the girl behind him, demonstrating how little the recipient of hatred matters. The feeling of hate is so strong that the target has no importance, as long as the hatred is expressed. The phrase violent effort highlights the feeling of urgency to release emotion during the Two Minutes Hate. Any outward expression of emotion is condemned in the society, therefore the feeling of hatred becomes uncontrollable and frantic. Winston ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. Commodification Of Halloween With the increase in reinterpretations of death and Halloween symbols, two fundamental things occurred, the mass commodification of Halloween and a decontextualization of the symbols of death. In 1978 the premiere of Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, directly placed the holiday itself in relation to horror and gruesome death, more so than the introduction of gothic horror ever did (Rogers 110; Khapaeva 58). The introduction of explicit horror, according to Rogers, created. a coded language that enables authors and invites their audiences to explore their fears, hidden desires, and anxieties (110). This established a creative space in which fantasy and dissociation could be merged creating a popularization of death without actually dealing with the reality of death itself. It created a space where the narrative of horror and death could be controlled and regulated, through established archetypes. This directly contrasted the collective psyche of the 1970s and 80s in the United States, which was dealing with the ramifications of the AIDS epidemic (the worst epidemic since Polio), and an increase in social, religious, and political conservatism (Khapaeva 78). Through horror movies and Halloween, social anxieties could be dealt with in an a political and creative way, while still maintaining the sanitized separation of hospital and culture. In the contemporary period, Halloween s popularity has increased. Personal expenditures on Halloween have drastically increased since the 2000s, to create a multi billion dollar industry, which has expanded the cultural awareness and practice of Halloween (Khapaeva 57). However, this expansion has led to the commodification of Halloween, by equating it with consumer culture. This has significant implications for the cultural conception of death as it equate previously potent symbols with cheap goods. But this might have been by design, as Grider argues that the mass commercialization of Halloween is another way in which collectively western culture can control the potentially dangerous incursion of the supernatural world in our everyday lives (10). Through the ownership of material goods associated with Halloween, the narrative and context of the concepts are further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Maus by Art Spiegelman Essay Why are comics not appreciated as much as the dry narratives of novels in the literary world? A comic is composed of symbols to express concepts shared by all people in their own social environment, and provide more tools than conventional art to truly show artistic intention. Comics exist to expose the ethnic representations that seek to control the development of collective perceptions, memories and emotions and especially fear by investigating the techniques through which this control is maintained. Spiegelman uses mice, cats, pigs and other animals to portray the victims and events in the Holocaust. He uses real features of human beings such as hands, feet and emotions to give the animals the full potential to relate to. Maus reveals that the characters portrayed as mice are being seen in sharper relief as human concerns in the world of mice. Spiegelman decided on interesting but possibly offensive use of different animals to use. The first type of animal which appears in this comic is the mouse (MausI:5). The form of mice is used to represent the Jewish people during the Holocaust and as of now too. The Polish police were involved in the arrest of innocent Jewish mice (27). The Polish people were pigs and Germans were represented as cats. The Germans appearance as cats began to make sense in the way how cats chase, hunt and kill mice (33). This comic book was translated into an easily readable format to educate the history of the Holocaust to the younger generations. Second, the choice of a comic format serves as a vital aspect in the reader s understanding of the visual society and making awareness through generations as more attuned to the image than to the word. In Vladek s world, being and living as a human meant living in fear. Vladek escapes the fear of death for a time through the intercession of an S.S. officer who wanted to learn English from him and in return provided him with some protection (78). This ... • 14. Reflective Essay On Culture According to Sellnow et al., culture is the system of shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and norms that guide what is considered appropriate among identifiable group of people (44). Culture involves why we believe in certain things and why we act certain ways. There are many different kinds of cultures that an individual may have. There are even groups that can be formed called co cultures that derive from these bigger cultures. Co culture is a group comprised of a smaller number of people who hold common values, beliefs, attitudes, and customs that differ from those of the dominant culture (Sellnow et al. 45). For the interview I conducted, I chose someone who had a different culture than I do. My interviewee was from Costa Rica, and comes from a Spanish culture. I was born in Ohio, and come from a one hundred percent American culture. The first difference in our cultures that I wanted to identify were the foods that we eat for our meals. The second difference involved some of the things that are different in our cultures, like how we greet people or the ways we celebrate. One could even take this further into calling them norms which are expectations for the way group members are to behave (Sellnow et al., 177). Lastly, I asked questions about the obvious difference in our cultures, which would be the different languages that we speak. The first question I asked my interviewee was What kinds of foods did you eat for your meals down in Costa Rica? Now this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Famine, Affluence And Morality By Peter Singer In the Famine, Affluence and Morality Peter Singer argued that individuals are morally obligated to grant most of their belongings to famines. He puts his argument as following. suffering and death from lack of food, shelter, and medical care are bad. If it is in our power to prevent something bad from happening, without derby sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought, morally, to do it. (Singer,454) John Arthur s objection to this theory is that Singer s second premise which he calls greater moral evil principle is not the whole picture and does not consider entitlement of individuals. He explains that Singer s claim that great moral evil principle explains our felling or that it appears uncontroversial (singer, 454) is not sufficient since moral equality is also important. Arthur s criticism of Singer s view is established in his concept of a social moral code, which is a system of principles, rules and other standards designed to guide people s conduct. (Arthur 501) Arthur explains that our social moral code approves both great moral evil principle and entitlement or right, which is consists of negative and positive right. Many has argued that Arthur s formulation of positive right concept does not seems to be right. • 39. How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant... How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United States. Introduction Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The poem Equality successfully demonstrates the urgent need for equality in the world, and that point is driven home by the repetition of the phrase Equality, and I will be free (9). This phrase is vital, as it shows that only when the world is equal can there be true freedom for everyone. Those discriminated against, such as the African American woman portrayed in Equality, are trapped beneath the weight of those forcing them to be smaller. The woman in this poem is fighting for acknowledgement and to be seen as equal; to no longer be the faint whisper out of range (6). The phrase Equality, and I will be free is repeated in six lines in a poem that is thirty lines, consistently emphasizing the fact that when equality is finally achieved, freedom will come with it.Finally, Maya Angelou uses the poetic device metaphor to allow the audience to visualize the true need for equality.
