The document describes Joshua leading the Israelites across the flooded Jordan River. It discusses how they were able to cross through (1) cooperation by following the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant, (2) reliance on God's promise that he would drive out the Canaanites, (3) obedience to God's command to listen and cross over, (4) service of the priests who stood in the river until all had crossed, and (5) setting up a memorial of stones to remind future generations of God's faithfulness.

"For all have sinned" the Apostle Paul said. He meant ALL! That means that everyone is in need of a savior and Jesus shed His blood to be that savior. Salvation is ONLY THROUGH JESUS - He's the only one who died for you! You can be saved today!
Everyone has storms that enter their lives, usually unpredicted. In John 6, the disciples of Jesus encountered a storm on the Sea of Galilee and in the midst of the storm, Jesus comes walking on the water. With a command of "Peace, be still", the storm and the waves subsided. Jesus has that same control over our storms.

What challenge did the nation of Israel encounter in Joshua 1:1? If you were Joshua how would you have felt? Why do you think God told him, “be strong and of good courage”? How does our definition of success influence or affect our lives? How would you define success? How does the world view success? How did the Lord use the word “success” in Joshua 1:6-9? Name 3 examples of those who are successful in the Bible and 3 who were not. What made the difference in their lives? Name the 3 commands God gave to Joshua in verses 6-9. Which command did he repeat? How many times? Why? Why does it take courage to obey the word of God? These and other questions are addressed in this study in Joshua 1.
In this sermon in the Faithbook series we will look at Hebrews 11:29-30 which profiles two very different Israelite generations, the generation of the Exodus and the generation of their children who finally entered the Land of Promise. It is a study of second chances as we see the lost opportunity at Kadesh Barnea and the regained opportunity at Abel Shittim on the doorstep to Jericho.
Some believe Peter and the other 10 apostles were hasty and should have waited for the appointment of Paul. Do you agree? Why? Compare the decision-making process of the Church in Acts 1:15-26 in selecting a replacement for Judas with the selection of deacons in Acts 6:2-6. What can we apply from these two events to our decision-making in our church today? What is the criteria for your decision-making?

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Joshua’s predecessor was the greatest prophet that arose in Israel. How can he compare with Him? Wee, he can rely on his own leadership skills that he learned when he was one of the prince of Egypt. But no! Joshua can only rely on God to exalt Him. And God promised Joshua that He would exalt him.
The nation has one obstacle in their journey to the promised land. It is a river overflowing its banks. They can wait until the end of the rainy season then try to cross it when the water is at its lowest. That is common sense!
9 Joshua said to the Israelites, "Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.

Imagine traveling through Sahara desert equip with only one canteen. How long would the water in that canteen would last? How about if you have a mobile stream following you wherever you go, would you still suffer thirst? That how it is with a person that fully trusts and rely on God.
Philippians 4:13 says:
Even when you are crossing the river in dry river bed, you backpack would worn you out. You would stumble, you will fall.
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isa 40:31 NLT)

3 giving orders to the people: "When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.
4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it."
5 Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you."
