2. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel
(good news, good message) of Christ, for it is the
power of God to salvation (soteria) for everyone
who believes…
3. 2 Corinthians 3:18
18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in
a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to
glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
4. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent
in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man
be lifted up
5. Numbers 21:5 And the people spoke against
God and against Moses: “Why have you
brought us up out of Egypt to die in the
wilderness? For there is no food and no water,
and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”
6 So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the
people, and they bit the people; and many of
the people of Israel
6. Numbers 21:7 Therefore the people came to
Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken
against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord that
He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed
for the people.
8 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent,
and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who
is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.”
7. N
umbers 21:9 So Moses made a bronze serpent, and
put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten
anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
8.
9. R o
mans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation
by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His
righteousness, because in His forbearance God had
passed over the sins that were previously committed
Propitiation: (hil-as-tay’-ree-on) – an atoning victim, the
lid of the Ark, the mercy seat
10. Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High
Priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we
are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come
boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
11. God’s throne is now called the throne of grace
The throne is never wrath anymore
What Israel experienced once per year we experience
every single moment
The bronze serpent was a picture of Jesus – even
when we fail, we receive mercy and grace
12. O
ld Covenant- repent and obey and then received
God’s goodness
New Covenant – You receive God’s goodness which
leads to repentance
Mercy – you don’t get what you deserve – you are not
judged
Grace – we get the blessings and favor of God even
though we don’t deserve it
13. P s
alm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of
the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my
fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the
fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
14. B e
lievers are no longer in the shadows
We are seated in Christ in heavenly places
- You are already blessed
- You are already healed
- You are in a position of rest
Stay there! Don’t frustrate grace by trying to get
there.
15. The enemy will try and tell you, “You really blew it this
time. You are not going to receive God’s blessings.”
- That’s why it is called mercy and grace
Sin does not stop God’s blessings
- tax collectors, sinners, prostitutes all
freely received from Jesus
The only group of people who did not receive from Jesus
were trying to be blessed by following the law.
16. Jes u
s has become our mercy seat. The blood of Jesus was
sprinkled once so that mercy and grace always flow freely.
When it’s about our efforts, we manifest works of the
flesh.
We can’t make faith a work.
When it’s about Jesus, you enjoy His goodness and
receive mercy and grace.
17. I Corinthians 11:24
“Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do
this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He
also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the
new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink
it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
