2. One of the most important things in life is to be
healthy-not just physically, but mentally and
emotionally as well.
3. Studies show that to keep our minds healthy we have
to keep them active. We do this by doing mental
challenging activities like solving puzzles, reading and
also learn to play an instrument. All of these improve
your memory.
4. Another way to be healthy is by having lots of
friends that make you happy, friends you can trust
and you feel comfortable to share your ideas with.
5. The more we talk about our
feelings and express them in the
correct way, the healthier we
feel. The way a person feels
inside is important. It can be
really hard not to tell anyone
that you're feeling sad, worried,
or upset. If you keep feelings
locked inside, it can even make
you feel sick!
6. Do you want to make new
friends but don’t know how
to make any? Start by
looking around your
classroom — think about
which kids you'd like to play
with during breaks.
7. Look for chances to say "Hi"
to them, smile, and be
friendly. Offer to share
something. Invite someone
to play with you during
breaks, walk over to kids
you want to play with, act
friendly, and say "Hi, can I
play, too?" or just join in.
8. The best way to make
friends is to be a friend. Be
kind, be friendly, share, say
positive things, offer to help
and pretty soon, you'll have
one, or two, or even more
new friends.
9. Many studies show that when a person is sourrounded
by people he loves he gets less sick than those who feel
lonely. Friends make you laugh and laughing is also an
important part of staying healthy.
10. A healthy lifestyle also
requires practising
physical exercise.
Watching TV and
playing computer
games can be fun, but
it doesn't do much for
your body because
your body stays still.
11. Playing builds muscles.
Playing, running, jumping,
and riding your bike can
make your muscles stronger.
Any physical activity you like
to do — from dancing to
playing football — can make
you stronger. Why? Because
you're using your muscles
when you do it.
12. Kids feel better about their
bodies when they feel
strong and know that their
bodies can do whatever
they want them to do. So
climb a hill, jump some
rope, ride a bike,run up
the stairs— and enjoy all
your body can do!
13. Eat well. This is another
essential tip for staying healthy.
You might think you need a lot
of foods that contain protein
(such as meat and eggs) or
foods that contain iron.
But no one magical food helps
build muscles. Your muscles —
and your entire body — will be
strong and healthy if you eat a
variety of nutritious food.
14. Breakfast is the most important
meal. Just as cars cannot run
without fuel, our bodies need energy
to work. Especially after a night’s
sleep, energy levels are low. So,
whether you are off to school, or out
and about at the weekend, start the
day with breakfast. Plenty of
carbohydrates is just the answer : try
toast or bread, or cereal with milk,
fruit or yoghurt.
15. Even if you eat regular meals
during the day, there will still be
times in between that you feel
hungry, especially if you have
been very physically active.
Snacks can fill the gap, but
should not be eaten in place of
meals, only as an extra.
16. There are lots of different snacks available. Your
choice may be yoghurt, a handful of fresh or dried
fruits, sticks of vegetables like carrots and celery,
unsalted nuts or rice crackers, or perhaps a slice of
fruit loaf or some bread with cheese.
17. As well as giving your
body all the food it
needs each day to keep
healthy, you need at
least 5 glasses of liquids
a day. Plain water is
great.
18. Finally, keep yourself clean and
take a shower at least once a day.
Brush your teeth regularly. Eating
foods high in sugar or starches
too often during the day can play
a part in tooth decay.
19. The best way to keep a nice
smile is to brush your teeth
twice a day with fluoride
toothpaste. Also, after
brushing your teeth at
bedtime, don’t eat any food,
or drink anything but water!
