TedxAntwerpen
The various speakers I listened to during
this seminar was around the subject of
Viral Learnings.
• Viral Learnings are different topics that
can be taboo or not enough spoken
about although we encounter them
everyday without realising it.
• The topics covered were about racism,
how valuable water is, Artificial
Intelligence in Translation, Game
Addiction and making invisible thing
visible.
Motivation
• I was intrigued by the topics that
were being covered in this seminar
because it is a fact that in our daily
lives we encounter a lot of different
problematics that we do not
question and think are seen as
normal.
• I find it important to question our
surroundings and be inspired to
take actions about problems we
encounter.
Reflection
• The speakers were very inspiring and spoke about eye
opening topics.
My 3 takeaways from this experience were:
1. As a white woman I take certain things for granted
without realising it because the perception of a black
woman growing up in Europe creates confusion within
themselves from a young age.
2. Water is an essential resource we waste everyday. We
should think twice before opening the tap, and process
where this source is actually coming from.
3. Addictions are created when we are trying to run away
from the problems we have created in our life.
Own research on the
topic of the
presentation you were
most interested in
• Racism is still a topic and concern that is occurring in the
world. In Belgium alone there are on average 1300 cases
every year.
• A topic that intrigued me during the seminar was how
black people perceive their own skin colour. There is a
study conducted where black kids were shown a black doll
and a white doll and they always end up choosing the
white doll because this is what they think the right beauty
is just because they are surrounded by white people when
in reality this is utterly incorrect.
• This is something that is gradually changing in our society
by companies that are now focused on inclusion marketing
and also due to the diversity in class rooms at a young age.
This is a racial bias that needs to be rectified firstly in
education and in study material as everything has always
been perceived with white people.
EU Blockchain
Conversion
During this 4 day convention I listened to
speakers from topics of various spectrums of
the use of the still very new technology called
the Blockchain.
• The blockchain is a new system of recording
information in a way that it stays
annonymous which is completely privacy
safe as it is registered through codes and
blocks and distributed across the whole
network.
• During this convention the speakers tackled
topics around cryptocurrencies, the banking
system, digital currencies, the use of the
blockchain in retail markets.
Motivation • Cryptocurrencies are a subject I have
always been passionate about but in
Europe it is not a subject you hear a
lot of information. Most topics from
the convention are only tackled in
America which always made it
confusing for me with the European
regulations.
• I was especially intrigued by the
banking stand point of the blockchain
technology and how they see a
potential future.
Reflection
• My key takeaways from the convention
was:
1. The blockchain is still very new so a lot
of companies are still trying to
understand how they can use it.
2. Even though it is new, big companies
see the potential and are eager to
develop their business around it.
3. The reason we don’t have a digital euro
is because interest rates are very low so
it would be a loss.
Student
Entrepreneur
Seminar
• I was a spokes person in this seminar. My
goal was to inspire students to become
student entrepreneurs by sharing my
story. I started an e-commerce flower
business in Belgium when I first moved
here as an expat which has been a
rollercoaster journey.
• I had to settle into the Belgian culture and
which had its struggles and lessons.
• I started a business with no background in
marketing and e-commerce.
Reflection
• I shared my story by giving valid points
about my struggles and how i perseived
them in order to grow as a young
entrepreneur. I found it important to make
students feel they are not alone on this
journey and that we are very lucky
universities have a support system.
• After the presentation i got questions about
books that inspire me to start a business
and also questions about being in a student
community of entrepreneurs.
Future of Artificial
Intelligence
This seminar was about how powerful artificial
intelligence is becoming in the world. We are all
already familiar with it without consciously thinking
about it but it is around us in our daily lives when we
go on the internet.
AI has been developed through writing and
automations but it is a technology that is becoming
more developed verbally and visually.
Motivation
I wanted to learn more about how technology is
evolving in the world especially in marketing as it is
a subject I am very interested in.
Having an e-commerce business I am always curious
about the new technologies and implementations
that are evolving through platforms and ways to
stay up to date with the recent updates.
Reflection
My key takeaways from this seminar are:
1. Artifical Intelligence is the future not only in
robotics but also on the internet.
2. Everything in the world is revolved around
how algorythms work in technology.
