3. OBJECTIVES OF PROMOKIDS NETWORK
To strengthen Nordic cooperation and networking for
promoting children's health and healthy growth.
To disseminate and embed good practices and policies.
To emphasize children’s health promotion and obesity
prevention in the Nordic countries taking into account early
prevention, role of different actors and the importance of living
environment and community.

4. GOALS OF PROMOKIDS NETWORK
To strengthen Nordic cooperation and networking
To share good experiences and ideas on how to implement the recommendations of
the report of the Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity report (WHO) in the
Nordic countries.
To share good experiences and ideas on how to implement the Nordic Nutrition
Recommendations (NNR) in the Nordic countries
To share good practices in monitoring of childhood obesity: How do we monitor today
and how should we monitor in the future (in order to ensure available and
comparable data).
To share good experiences and ideas on how to collaborate in reformulation of foods
and beverages and in marketing of foods and non-alcoholic beverages to children

6. WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR?
The PromoKids project started officially in January 2018. During the spring
2018 the network has been created.
The project description has been updated and the Action plan for the
PromoKids prepared. Documents have been accepted by the Nordic
collaborators.
The PromoKids website is opened: www.thl.fi/promokids
The PromoKids network has had teleconferences in August 2017 and in April
2018 and a lunch meeting during the ECO conference in Vienna in May 2018.
The first workshop in Iceland on 3rd of October 2018

8. WHERE DO WE AIM AT?
Increased collaboration and discussion
Better understanding on structures, systems and approaches
affecting health and wellbeing of children in Nordic countries
Increased opportunities for fund raising through collaborative
networks and projects (possibly also research projects)
Improvement of comparable monitoring
Better implementation of Nordic and national
recommendations
