The Sumatran tiger population is estimated to be around 400 individuals, living primarily in lowland and mountain forests on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. Habitat loss due to deforestation, agricultural expansion, and fires threatens the long-term survival of the species as their natural habitat continues to decline rapidly. Increased enforcement to curb illegal hunting and expansion of protected areas could help save the Sumatran tiger from extinction.
