Most storylines follow a three act structure consisting of an introduction, complication, and resolution. Act one introduces the protagonist and their normal situation before the antagonist appears and complicates their life. Act two involves the protagonist embarking on a journey or quest that encounters complications from the conflict. Act three sees the conflict culminate in jeopardy before returning to normalcy with a resolution that ties up loose ends. For example, in Cinderella act one introduces Cinderella in her basic life before her stepfamily, act two involves her quest to the ball despite complications, and act three resolves with her marrying the prince after overcoming her stepfamily.
