Thomas Jefferson was born in 1743 in Virginia and served as the third President of the United States from 1801 to 1809. He drafted the Declaration of Independence and signed it in 1776. As president, Jefferson was 57 years old and oversaw the country during the Revolutionary War while advocating for individual liberty and a limited federal government. He died in 1826 in Charlottesville, Virginia at the age of 83.
