The Reserve Bank of India raised interest rates by 25 basis points to 6% and reverse repo rate by 50 basis points to 5% to curb inflation. This will make loans more expensive for corporations and individuals while increasing deposit returns. Lenders are expected to review lending and deposit rates in response. The narrowing of rates between repo and reverse repo aims to increase stability in overnight lending between banks.
