This routine helps students develop independent thinking about modern art by stimulating their curiosity. It will introduce students to how artists express emotions through art. Students will look at paintings by Picasso, Munch, Kahlo and Matisse then discuss in pairs how the art makes them feel and expresses emotions. They will consider what they know about expressing emotions through art, questions it raises, and aspects they want to explore further. Students will then share their discussions and conclusions in small groups.
