• Some children came with ideas and generated more options:
• Making more swings for children to play
• Decorating our school
• Creating flower gardens or vegetable gardens etc
• The idea of starting vegetable garden was carried
Started green vegetable garden using old car tyres
MAINTAINING IT AND WATERING
Maintenance of garden three times week
HARVESTING TIME 3 DAYS A WEEK FROM TYRE

INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON • Subject: Economics and Management Science grade 4 to 7 • Topic about food production • How to engage community children to start food gardens • Scarcity of food and skills, municipality backlog of donating food parcels to the needy and high prizes of food in retailers • A dialogue about this topic using animation
  • 3. CHILDREN AT THEIR VARIOUS HOMES TV screen news showing a woman burnt to death through tyre
  • 4. AT SCHOOL Did you see the news last night? Yes teacher. I saw people burning a woman to death with tyres
  • 5. How did you feel? Is there anything we can do about this situation? It was very sad teacher. I don’t know what to do teacher
  • 7. IN THE CLASSROOM • Some children came with ideas and generated more options: • Making more swings for children to play • Decorating our school • Creating flower gardens or vegetable gardens etc • The idea of starting vegetable garden was carried
  • 8. Started green vegetable garden using old car tyres
  • 10. Maintenance of garden three times week
  • 11. HARVESTING TIME 3 DAYS A WEEK FROM TYRE Some of the male educators came to harvest good ideas about tyre gardening Some for preparing meal at home(Consumption)
