Key Risk Factors
There are many risk factors that are associated with malnutrition, but low income, social isolation
and a poor diet are among the top factors. When families do not have a high income or money is
not assessable, nutritious foods are unable to be obtained. Healthier foods might not necessarily be
more expensive, but with chronic diseases money gets cut from the food bill to afford medications.
Cost for housing or transportation also need to be taken into consideration. Social isolation in a
suburban area may play a key role in malnutrition. If nutritious foods are not consumed in an
everyday diet, a poor diet occurs. Proper nutrition is needed for growth and learning.
Economic and Social Consequences
The consequences are numerous when addressing malnutrition in children. Proper nutrition is key
in living an active and healthy life. When children are undernourished they have a weaker immune
system and are more susceptible to illnesses and infections. A long term lack of nutrition can cause
stunting, delayed development, cognitive and motor skills, pneumonia and diarrhea. According to
UNICEF, stunting in early life is linked to 0.7 grade loss in schooling, a 7 month delay in starting
school and between 22 45% reduction in lifetime earnings. When children are stunted,

For the purpose of this paper, we will take an in depth look at three of these such market structures.

Introduction
Traffic congestion and air pollution are becoming growing problems in many cities in Malaysia. In
order to discourage automobile dependency, and increase pedestrian activities particularly for short
trips, the government has begun to promote non motorized travel options by improving pedestrian
facilities that promote an assured level of convenience, comfort, and security for potential users.
One of the facilities that have been provided by the government is the pedestrian bridge.
A pedestrian bridge or footbridge is a bridge constructed for pedestrians and sometimes for cyclists
and bikers as well. It reduces the conflicts of traffic flow between the pedestrians and the vehicles
by separating them. Hence, it helps in overcoming accidents and offers safety.
However, due to the added travel distance, most of the pedestrians normally avoid using these

One invention was the telegraph, invented by Samuel Morse in the 1830s. The telegraph used
electricity in order to send signals over long wires. Morse then developed a language named after

Peoples and Empires Throughout history there have been a multitude of different empires to rise
up and conquer land, along with the people inhabiting that land. More often than not, these empires
fell. Whether the empire was quickly abolished, or it maintained power for decades, most of them
were over thrown. Anthony Pagden, who at the time of publication was a history professor at John
Hopkins, wrote the book Peoples and Empires in 2003 to explain the history of the once Great
European Empires . These empires included, but are not limited to, the French, the Spanish, the
British, and the Roman Empire. One major idea of the content focuses on how these particular
empires justified their conquering, not only to themselves, but also to their followers and the
people who rebelled against them. Conquerors would travel to the ends of the earth in order to

The civil war that continues to rage in Syria for the past five years has been one of both great
loss and great interest. Several key actors from around the world such as the United States,

Analysis Of The Movie Empire Falls By Richard Russo
Empire Falls, written by Richard Russo, encompasses several concepts of the American identity
and what it means to be an American. Russo focuses on the small town life in New England,
illustrating a compelling story while narrating the lives of several different characters. While
these characters seem to be different at the surface, they actually share several similarities. The
characters of Empire Falls share the same outlook of life. Despite the American freedom they
have, they will typically follow the path of life that they were born into and never question why.
Overall, Empire Falls is a town of acceptance, accepting ones place in society as it is. The
citizens of Empire Falls do not question their path of life and simply accept the basic truth of their
lives. This speaks volumes for our country. Are we a country that will simply accept our set path of

This week we jumped into the Renaissance. The ground work for understanding the time period
was set with the initial discussion about the influences of humanism, the Reformation, and the
relative peace of the time. All of these aspects aided in allowing musicians and musical traditions
mingle. In the early 15th century there is a rise to prominence by the English, but also this mixing.
The English had a liking for using thirds and sixths in their music, something that came to be
called contenance angloise . This mixed in with the French preference for rhythmic complexity
and forms, and the Italian florid melodic writing, to create this new international style. The
composers associated with this time period are John Dunstable, Gilles Binchois, and Guillaume

Technology had a great influence on literature in the early twentieth century. This was the era of
Women s Suffrage Movement and the Great War both of which had an impact on literature. The
Women s Movement challenged long held ideals that men were superior in both mind and body, but

on Washington in order to gain media attention and support, and this coverage eventually led to the
