It’s been another year of change and challenge for
the UK water industry and, more specifically, for
British Water.

What Are Solutions For the Non-Recyclables That Our Industry Generates?Stephanie Elton
The following powerpoint presentation was shared at a Printing Industries of Northern California (PINC) webinar.
Channeled Resources Group provides solutions for both manufacturers and consumers of coated, treated, and laminated papers & films. We understand that companies need creative ideas and, particularly in today's economy, cost savings at both ends of the supply chain. Doing business should be simple and improve your company's bottom line.
CRG - Global Solutions is a recycler of both traditional and non-traditional papers. Our specialty is in processing roll stock and silicone coated release liner. We offer competitive pricing making us the ideal one-stop shop for your recycling needs.
Our niche is purchasing silicone-coated paper for repulping. We even buy discarded liner left behind from high-speed machine applicators.
This month's Breakfast Briefing is focused on the theme of 'low carbon' (or 'clean growth' as it is referred to in the UK governments 'The Grand Challenges').
We will be joined by Tevi, Cornwall New Energy and others to deliver an information packed breakfast briefing that will disseminate information to assist the Owner Manager of the SME in embedding, or further embedding, 'clean growth' into your business ethos. Topics being covered include:
•Cornwall & Isles of Scilly and the low carbon economy – an update
•Overview of the business support available to businesses in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
•Case studies showing how low carbon projects delivered additional profit and improved a business’ sustainability
•Reducing operating costs
•Enabling new energy costs and services to be brought to the market
•The circular economy and local energy generation – tomorrow’s themes today

Partnerships for the Goals - 11 Best Practice Examples from the Chemicals Ind...Finch & Beak
The chemicals industry may be one of the most active sectors when it comes to collaborating and partnering, particularly in (open) innovation models. However, sector-wide industry data from eRevalue on what chemical companies report on in terms of SDGs showed that reporting on goals 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and 17 (partnerships for the goals) stays far behind.
Are chemical players being too modest, or take this for granted? We have selected a number of partnerships that illustrate how the industry collaborates in order to create impact across a range of the sector’s most material Sustainable Development Goals.

1. Welcome to WASTE MATTERS, our magazine for anyone who'd like to
be informed about the developments at Recycling Technologies Ltd.

"... What is new is that now we have
shown the process works at a
commercial scale which is a very
significant step forward.
The RT700 has produced Plaxx™!
To the delight of everyone involved, I am able to
report that we have produced Plaxx™ on the RT700
pilot plant, putting us on course to solving the
problem of plastic waste.
After several months of trials and engineering refinements, the RT700 pilot plant
produced its first Plaxx™ last week. It has been quite a journey and the team, as you
can imagine, are elated. The selfie above, taken after the successful run probably
speaks for itself!
The process of producing Plaxx™
from end-of-life plastic was not in
doubt since it has been proven many
times on the MkII rig with all sorts of
plastic wastes being processed. What
is new is that now we have shown the
process works at a commercial scale which is a very significant step forward.
The experience gained in successfully producing Plaxx™ in the pilot plant is
invaluable for the team as we now look to the RT7000 design. There is more work
that we need to do to the RT700 prior to moving it to our first operational site, at
2. Swindon Borough Council's recycling facility. These improvements and the move
itself are scheduled to be completed over the summer.

world’s most significant developments by turning waste into a valuable resource.

One step closer to achieving a New Plastic Economy
3. The enthusiasm of the team here at Recycling
Technologies is only matched by the size of the
marketplace. Last month, we were invited to the
Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastic
Economy [NPEC] event in London. During the two
days the biggest names in the world of plastic were
challenged to develop the “moon shot” ideas and
systems that could boost plastic recycling from 10%
to 90% around the world. Major players, such as
DOW, BASF, Borealis, Coca-Cola, Unilever and
Viridor, all grappled with the size of the problem given the limitations of mechanical
recycling.
The potential for chemical recycling, as demonstrated by Recycling Technologies, to
turn end-of-life plastic into Plaxx™ was extremely well received. The spotlight is now
even more firmly fixed on Recycling Technologies and the role the RT7000 can play
in evolving this global problem.
FUNDRAISING
Already with strong government backing and over
120 individual investors now backing Recycling
Technologies, we invite the investment community to
join our current fundraising round which we started a
few weeks ago. The 45p/share price, set prior to
Plaxx™ being produced, is still available but for a
limited time only, given the progress that has been
made. We have received significant interest from a
number of syndicates which are evaluating the
opportunity and remain confident that this round will
shortly be filled now that we have successfully
proven the technology at pilot plant scale.
GRANT FUNDING
Recycling Technologies was recently awarded grant
funding by Innovate UK under their Energy Catalyst
scheme. The project will qualify Plaxx™ for use in
large diesel engines by carrying out large-scale
trials. It is a collaborative project between Recycling
Technologies and the University of the West of
England (UWE). During the project Recycling
Technologies will receive grant monies amounting to
£688,000 and the University will receive £364,000.

(TAP) is helping to build
our highly motivated
close-knit team
of engineers, with seven

regular internal
conferences to review
Recycling Technologies'
designs, discuss

4. COLLABORATION WITH
RICARDO
Recycling Technologies is working with Ricardo to
characterise the use of Plaxx™ as a substitute for
fossil-based heavy fuel oil (HFO) and diesel for use
in applications such as power generation and marine
propulsion. Ricardo will work with Recycling
Technologies to assess the relative performance of
Plaxx™, HFO and diesel when used in an engine of
the type and scale typical of these applications.
The Ricardo Atlas II research engine will be used for
this work. This advanced test engine is capable of
efficiently evaluating the performance of fuels in
large, multi-cylinder engine designs ranging from
150-200 mm bore and representing engines in the
class 0.5 to 5 MW, in a single power cylinder.
Adrian Griffiths, Recycling Technologies' CEO
commented: “The marine industry is a key market as
the use of high sulphur oil is increasingly being
restricted. Working together with Ricardo on this
project, we are now taking steps to get Plaxx™
qualified so that it is fit for use in medium and large
marine engines.”
“The ability to generate fuels and recover plastics is
key to the sustainable management of the world’s
resources. As such, assessing the viability of the
process during the pilot phase is an exciting and
potentially ground-breaking step for Ricardo and the
team from Recycling Technologies,” commented Dr
Adam Read, Ricardo Energy & Environment Practice
Director.
This research work is being funded as part of
Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst Grant.
SHORTLISTED FOR THE UK

ASSOCIATION AWARD
Even after receiving record numbers of entries for
their awards, Recycling Technologies has been
shortlisted for "Best Investment Tech Business
Recently, this was further
augmented by a
technology review
conducted by AMEC
Foster Wheeler to
evaluate the RT700
design and assess any
