Danas and his wife Banag lived a nomadic lifestyle, constantly moving to find food. After a fierce storm destroyed their homes by the sea, they settled in the mountains but a drought caused food to become scarce. Exhausted, Danas fell asleep in a field of grass and awoke to find the grass singing, telling him to gather and eat the grains. The grass instructed Danas to plant the grains and taught him about farming rice. Danas shared this knowledge with others, establishing permanent settlements and ending their nomadic lifestyle as people learned to farm rice.
