   Warm     up: Discuss your homework from
      yesterday. Did your partner choose a song
      that fit a theme of TV show or movie?
      Explain.

   Today’s    objective is to identify theme in
      common stories and movies, and work in a
      team to answer questions about Romeo and
      Juliet to develop a class list of themes.
 In your groups, quickly discuss the children’s
  story your are given. On the scrap paper,
  write your answer about what the theme is.
 Remember theme is what the author is saying
  about life.
 Rotate the envelops and repeat.

 The Lion King
 Hansel and Gretel
 The Ugly Duckling
 Mulan
 In groups of three, work together to answer
  the following questions.
 Once you have completed this worksheet,
  each team will decide on a theme for Romeo
  and Juliet.
 Each team will share their theme with the
  class and we will compile a master list of
  possible themes.

      write your essay about and why you think
      that.
