Privately owned media company in Nepal.
Actively pursuing independent, honest and unbiased journalism.
Being a privately owned company, it faces the crisis.
News express, People Janna Chahanchan, Raju ko Dhamala, Music Info, the Bankers Diary etc.
Less participation of viewers which damage the people’s beliefs.
Staff left the organization which resulted in damage of reputation.
Increasing reluctant to invest in programs.
Apologized for broadcasting without verification.
Formed committee to review the whole system and provide feedback for improvement.
Q.1. Diagnose the Case and Raise the Issues
1. Employees turnover issues
unable to tackle with the obstacles and difficulty to sustain in market for longer
period
not able to generate trust even though training programs have been launched
2. Brand image and reputation issues
mislead info, error in editing, unable to attract viewers with the programs
telecasted
broadcasting the information without verification
3. Distrusting issues by the investors and consumers
Sponsor of different programs found reluctant.
4. Lack proper supervision and monitoring from the company’s top
management
lacks in reviewing of current programs, setting the program different than
competitors and developing new programs that are suitable to targeted people.
Q.2. Assess the Reforming Interventions and What may be the Reasons
that Reforming Interventions Couldn’t Work?
A set of reforming intervention made by the company are:
Apologized on air to regain the trust
Formed a committee to review whole system and provide the feedback
Implemented the solution prescribed by the committee.
Communication to all staffs reasserting XYZ TV values.
Providing importance to the feedbacks of the clients.
The major reasons that reforming interventions couldn’t work are:
Implementation Problem
feedback and suggested measure may not have implemented properly.
Feedbacks of viewers
Damage the people’s beliefs i.e honesty and broadcasting excellence of TV.
News Authentication
People perception towards the news channel is positive when news channel provides authentic and
reliable news every time.
Employee Turnover
 Due to the damaged reputation many staffs left the organization and it is hard to retain
them back. Also, the organization is not able to attract new staffs.
Q.3. Suggest the Remedial Measures for Appropriate Settlement of the
Problems based on Human Resource Management Approach.
Changes in procedure can be complemented with cultural intervention.
Provide training to staffs and improve interpersonal communication.
The company should maintain proper transparency to regain it’s lost reputation.
Feedbacks of consumers are to be reviewed seriously to gain trust and necessary
action should be taken.
Limiting the reach of information to overall staff as they may leak the
information. This can be achieved with the help of authorization and revocation
on access of information to be supplied.
