This set of slides briefly list and categorize the literary works of Sree Narayana Guru. These slides form part of the educational literature for discussions within the NPHIL educational community.

The works are broadly grouped as follows:

5. Philosophical works
• ATMOPADESA SATAKAM
One Hundred verses of Self Instruction. This is
the text in which the Guru expounds his
philosophy in its entirety.
It principally states that there is only one
Reality – the ‘atman’, essentially the
unconditioned Consciousness (a.k.a.
Brahman).
6. Philosophical works
• DARSANA MALA (Garland of Visions -
Sanskrit).The Guru concisely presents
Vedanta in a traditional scholastic style.
The work visualises the one ultimate Reality
(atman or Brahman) from different
philosophical perspectives.
Ten chapters, in ten verses each, in Sanskrit.

• OBITUARY OF TWO VERSES (Honouring
Chattambi Swamikal - Sanskrit).
• COMPLETION OF AN INCOMPLETE VERSE
(Greeting to Dharmakumaran monthly).
• SRI NARAYANA SMRTI (Code of conduct of
human life - Sanskrit. Notes of his disciples
discussions with him).
A total of 12 works in this group.
27. Translations
• ISA UPANISHAD (From Sanskrit original to
Malayalam - Also called īśāvāsya upanishad.
The Upanishad constitutes the final chapter
or adhyāya of the Shukla Yajurveda).
• TIRUKURAL (From Tamil to Malayalam.
Couplets or Kurals (1330 rhyming Tamil
couplets) or aphorisms. Authored by poet
Thiruvalluvar, between 2nd century BC and
5th century AD). Only partly restored.
28. Translations
• It is believed that the Guru translated the
Tamil book OZHIVIL ODUKKAM to
Malayalam. Only two verses have been
restored.

the poem Cijjada Cintanam).
