The White Legacy--Generation 9, Chapter 1
1. Is It Worth It?
The White Legacy:
Generation Nine, Chapter One
2. Welcome back to the White Legacy, where we have officially entered the home stretch!
Last time we met, Spike and Fen of generation nine were killed by Arc and the vampires; Sun was also killed by
the vampires; Saffron started coming into her own as heiress; she met and got engaged to a fireman named
Connor Rauscher; Bay and June got engaged; and everyone still remaining in the house graduated. I think that
covers the highlights. Now everyoneâs moved back into legacy estate with Lara, giving us four adults and one put-upon
elder watching over them all. Letâs watch.
3.
4. Bay: âHey, Saffron. Iâm allowed to see you before the wedding, right?â
Saffron: âOf course! I thought youâd want to be with June, though. You know, the one youâre getting married to.â
Bay: âI tried. She kicked me out. Something about âbad luck.â Pshaw.â
5. Bay: âHey, are you okay? You seem kind of pale.â
Saffron: âIâm fine. Just... a little nervous. Thatâs all.â
Bay: âDonât be. Connorâs a great guy.â
Saffron: âNot just about that. Donât be dense.â
6. Bay: âReally, Saffron, everythingâs going to be okay. Theyâre not going to be able to touch us. After all, weâve got
werewolves and plantsims watching over us now.â
8. Saffron: âHold on, youâve got some lint on your suit.â
Bay: âDo I? Thatâs no goodâŚâ
9. Saffron: âReady for this?â
Connor: âAbsolutely. You?â
Saffron: âMore than ready.â
10. June: âRemind me why we couldnât go first?â
Bay: âSaffron is heir.â
June: âYou all put way too much importance on this âheirâ thing.â
11. Clary: *sniff*
Lara: âClary, are you crying?â
Clary: *sniff* âNO!â *sniffle*
12. Connor: âI promise to love and support you, in sickness and in health, inâŚâ
13.
14. Lara: âEverybody calm down!â
Clary: âNOT THE BEES!! NOT THE BEES!!â
Plantsim: âEveryone! Outside! Now!â
15. *mass screaming*
Plantsim: âCome on bee friend, you donât really want to chase us and sting us, do you? âŚdo you?â
17. Bay: âJUNE!! June. Itâs okay, theyâre gone, theyâre gone!â
June: *shudder* âWhy would she do that, anyway? Oh, ew, that was so grossâŚâ
29. Saffron: âDangit, where do they keep their weapons!? There must be something here! A knife, an alarm button!
Anything!â
Jessica: âSaffron, what are you doing here!? Why did you leave the house!?â
31. Saffron: âThey are not going to take me without a fight! I will not lay down and let them kill me! I wonât!â
32. Jessica: âDeep breaths, Saffron. I wasnât expecting you to. But weâre not in your home; those doors arenât going
to keep them out. Priya wonât be able to distract them for long.â
33. Saffron: âSo we fight back!â
Jessica: âSeven vengeful vampires against two werewolves and a human in a restricting wedding dress?â
Saffron: âWe can do it! We donât have to defeat them all, we just have to get to the door and run for it!â
Jessica: âThey can fly.â
Saffron: âWeâll run faster!â
34. Jessica: âIf only the rest of the pack was here!!â
Saffron: âWhere are they, anyway?â
Jessica: âWe didnât know where you went! Your scent merged with all the others in the city, and we had to split up to find
you!â
Saffron: âSo maybe if weâre lucky, theyâll show up in the next five minutes⌠right?â
*scream*
36. Saffron: ââŚthanks, Jessica. You and the pack were always there when I was a kid, growing up without my
parents. It was like I had eight parents instead of two. Thank you.â
Jessica: âYouâre a good kid, Saffron. Itâs been a pleasure.â
37.
38.
39.
40.
41. Julien: âAlpha! Here!â
Matthew: âItâs Priya! Inside! Jessica is already gone, but we donât know about Saffron! We might still be able to
save her! INSIDE!!â
42. Alexandra: âWe MEAN it, you two! GO HOME!! Itâs too dangerous out here! We need to make sure both of you
are safe!!â
Bay: âNot until we find Saffron!!â
*howl*
44. Clary: âAlright, these doors are locked. No one is going in or out until weâve reached a decision.â
45. Clary: âStop crying, you pussy.â
Bay: âFirst things first. Connor. What are you planning on doing now?â
46. Connor: âI⌠I donât know⌠I was going to marry Saffron, and we were going to be happyâŚâ
Clary: âYeah, well, thatâs not going to happen anymore.â
Connor: âHow can you be so cold!?â
Clary: âWe can mourn Saffron when the legacy is over. For now, we have to keep moving forward.â
47. Bay: âIs it worth it?â
Clary: âIs what worth it?â
Bay: âThe legacy. Is it worth sacrificing people for?â
48. Clary: âNo. But if we give up now, Saffron and Spike and Fen and Grandpa Sun and everyone will have died for
nothing. Is that what you want?â
Bay: âNo⌠youâre right. Weâre so close now, we might as well finish it.â
Clary: âExactly.â
49. Bay: âSo, Connor? What are you going to do? You can stay with us if you want.â
Connor: âThanks, but⌠if Saffronâs not here, thereâs not really any reason for me to stay.â
Bay: âYou sure?â
Connor: ââŚyeah.â
50. Connor: âI guess Iâll be going then.â
Bay: âYouâre absolutely sure? You donât have to leave the meeting, you know.â
Connor: âYeah. No offense, but I want to know as little about all this as possible. Would someone mind unlocking
the door for me?â
54. Clary: âYou keep it, you jerk.â
Bay: âWhy?â
Clary: âDonât you ever make me say this ever again, but youâre just better at this kind of thing. Besides, youâre
already engaged. You wouldnât have to go find somebody on short notice and hope you fall in love with them.â
55. Bay: âI think youâre selling yourself short, Clary. I know youâre frustrated and upset and everything, but youâd be
great at being heiress. âŚbesides, I canât be heir. Juneâs not an NPC. Iâd have to dump her and marry someone
else, and Iâm not willing to do that.â
June: *cough*
Bay: âWhatâs that? Did you say something, June?â
June: âEr, no, nothing. Keep on going like youâre going. Yeah.â
56. Clary: âSpeak up, June. No one likes a mumbler. If youâve got something to say, spit it out.â
June: *SIGH*
57. June: âAlright. So I might be an NPC. Who cares? I still think Clary should be heir.â
59. June: âIâm a secret society member. Itâs kind of a loose definition of an NPC, but still. It counts.â
Bay: âSince when? Why didnât you say anything?â
June: âIt never came up. Besides, I ran away from them. I was slated to be fed to the cowplant. Who wants to be
fed to a cowplant? So I left. It was awfully convenient that Arie offered me a place in the greek house, actually.â
60. Bay: âSo what do you think? Willing to give being a legacy couple a try?â
June: âWhy not? At this rate, weâre all dead anyway.â
Clary: âSo?â
Bay: âClary, I accept. Iâll be heir, if you want me to.â
61. Clary: âGood. Youâd better throw on your formal clothes, then.â
June: âUm, why?â
Clary: âBecause you two are getting married right this very minute. If we donât tell anybody itâs happening, nobody
is going to show up to interrupt, right? Right. Clary, youâre a genius.â
62. June: âYouâre sure there isnât time for me to do my hair up? Or at least thrown on my dominatrix crown?â
Bay: âOh, probably.â
63. Clary: âNo there is not. Get on with it.â
Bay: âShouldnât we at least wait for Aunt Lara?â
Clary: âNo. I donât want anyone knowing about this until itâs already happened, thank you very much. You have no
choice in this matter. Get on with it.â
64. Bay: âWell, rushed though we may be, I love you, June. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.â
June: âSame here. For however long that may be.â
65. Bay: âI love you, June.â
June: âYeah, yeah. Letâs get to the honeymoon already.â
69. Calcite: âJocelyn, youâve seen whatâs been going on. Iâm related to these people, however distantly. I have to do
something.â
Jocelyn: âWeâre neutral, Calcite. Itâs the basic tenet of who we are. We donât involve ourselves, remember?â
70. Calcite: âI donât care. Iâm tired of standing by and watching them get hurt.â
Jocelyn: âWell, theyâve hardly been having a hard time surviving, but maybe we can work something out here.
What are you planning on doing? Maybe we can do it in a way thatâs⌠neutral. Somehow. Yeah.â
Calcite: âIâm going to Chantelle. Theyâve expressed interest in helping before, and now would be a really good
time for them to do so again, war or no war.â
71. Jocelyn: âGo to Chantelle!? The head of the light order!? That is the exact opposite of neutral, Cal!â
76. Callie: ââŚsomeone just teleported behind me, didnât they. It better not be a dark witch breaking through my wards,
or Iâm going to open up a can ofââ
Calcite: âCallie, itâs me.â
Callie: âOh, Calcite. Hey. Since when were you a light warlock?â
77. Calcite: âSo, uh, I may have just left my order and changed sides so I could pursue a cause, and I may not know
how to actually contact Chantelle to further my cause. Can you help me out?â
Callie: âI donât know, Cal, weâre kind of busy. You know, in the middle of a warââ
Calcite: âPlease? Itâs just, the legacyâŚâ
Callie: âWhat about the legacy?â
78. Lara: âYou got married!? WITHOUT ME!?â
Bay: âWe had to! Clary wasnât giving us any choice!â
June: ââŚso tiredâŚâ
79. Lara: *sniff* âMy own nephew doesnât even want me at his weddingâŚâ *sniff*
Bay: âCome on, Aunt Lara. Itâs not like we eloped on purpose.â
Lara: âHow do you elope on ACCIDENT!?â
Clary: âJune, you look kind of seasick. Been tub pirating again?â
80. June: âUrk!â
Lara: ââŚhm. Well. You two donât waste any time, do you?â
Bay: *beaming*
Clary: âDo you guys hear the phone?â
81. Bay: âNo, Aunt Arie, I promise we didnât elope on purpose. Yes, we meant for you to be there. Yes, we appreciate
all your supportâŚâ
Lara: âHm. Support. We need a whole lot more of it.â
Bay: âReally, Aunt Arie, itâs okay. We promise we wonât do it again. It was kind of spur of the momentâŚâ
Lara: âIâve got an idea.â
84. Bay: âWhatâs that? Did you see that?â
Julien: âSee what?â
Alexandra: âGreat. I smell a witch. As if we didnât have enough problems already.â
85. Julien: âMake that three witches.â
Alexandra: âPerfect. What are all of you doing here?â
86. Callie: âWeâre here to pledge the support of the light witch order for the current heir. Is he just going to hang back
there?â
Julien: âYes.â
Callie: âOh. Okay.â
Chantelle: âBy the way, we saw in our magic mirrors that Juneâs pregnant. Congratulations.â
87. Chantelle: âNow, we have a list of charms and wards weâd like to set up around the house, just in case, you know.
Your enemies do tend to have a flair for the dramatic, and weâd like to be prepared.â
88. Callie: âSomeone just walked up behind me, didnât they?â
Kid: âHi, there! We got your invite!â
89. Bay: âInvite? What invite?â
Julien: âBAY! Get back inside!â
Kid: âUm, the party invitation? You know, the one you beamed into space? There better be a party here, âcause
Iâm just the forward delegate. In about thirty seconds, thereâs going to beââ
90. Kid: ââabout eighteen differentââ
Gabie: âHey Phlox, how goes the introduction?â
Kid: âMOM!! You interrupted me!!â
91. Vis: âHey, you look like you live here. Whoâre you?â
Bay: âUm, Iâm Bay.â
Vis: âBay, huh? Any relation to Ella White?â
Bay: âIâm her great-grandson.â
Vis: âGreat-grandson? Iâve been gone for that long? Thatâs so EVIL!â
92. Gabie: âCome on honey, no need to scare the poor boy.â
Alien: âSo whereâs the party room? Ooh! I hope you have party poppers!â
Vis: âWeâre going to set up in the game room! See ya! Weâre gonna raid the fridge too, âcause weâre evil like that,
but donât worry, weâll leave your desserts alone. It would be cruel to steal your sugar.â
93. Bay: ââŚdid I just invite a band of aliens to a party at my house?â
Alexandra: âAnd I can already hear the music starting up. Great. Thatâll make it so much easier to guard you guys
without distractions, let me tell you. Whose bright idea was it to call them, anyway?â
96. Bay: âWhat the heck is going on tonight!?â
Julien: âYou said it, man. Race to the backyard, Alex?â
Alexandra: âYou got it. Bay, hole up in the kitchen.â
Bay: âOh, come onâŚâ
97. Callie: âOh, look, itâs Hattie. Returned to the scene of the crime, have we?â
Hattie: âIâm sure I have no idea what youâre talking about.â
Callie: âSo youâre saying you didnât infest a wedding chapel with bees and then chase Saffron into a trap that led
to her death, mmm?â
Hattie: âWell, perhaps. It was a favor for one potential ally. Iâm here now as a favor to a different ally.â
98. Hattie: âIt would be⌠beneficial⌠for you and all involved if you visited Peachtree Valley tonight, and brought with
you plenty of reagents and your entire order.â
Chantelle: âAre you suggesting a battle in the middle of a suburb full of legacy spares, Hattie?â
Hattie: âWOULD YOU JUST LISTEN TO ME!? I am not here as your enemy tonight! Get down there!
IMMEDIATELY!â
99. Callie: âAnd sheâs gone. Ha. She really is an idiot if she thinks weâre going to listen to her advice. Even if she
didnât cause Saffronâs death, which she did, weâre sort of AT WAR.â
Chantelle: âDo you smell smoke?â
