The Weekly Update #1 – TV Channel Blog Post, Short
Blogs and More
theweeklyrambler.com/the-weekly-update-1-tv-channel-blog-post-short-blogs-and-more/
Welcome to the first edition of The Weekly Update. This is a SHORT blogpost that I am
going to try and do each week amongst the usual blogposts. It will focus on giving some
news about what is happening with the blog, such as what I am working on and any
plans, I am willing to share.
The Weekly Update will also focus on other little things I decide to include which may be
little updates on former blogposts I have done, and other related news to such blogposts.
I may also include some bits of in-real-life lifestyle news from time to time (nothing super
personal obviously) and anything else that is misc enough to be lumped in here probably
at the ending of the update.
So, let’s get to it…
Easter is Busier Than I thought it Would Be
2. 2/7
I genuinely thought that this week I would have more time after having finished with the
Health and Social Care certificate that I had been doing. But boy was I dead wrong, not
only was I dog sitting for the week, which meant a lot of walks for wee wees and poo
poos since I live in a flat (meaning no convenient garden), I also had a bunch of Easter
related activities I committed to taking part in and writing a piece for the young film event
program group I am a part of.
So, it was a PACKED week where I may well have ironically been busier than I was at
any time of the Health and Social Care studying and sessions. But it was all fun. The
social activities are great as I am interested in developing my social skills and also
helping out in the community through volunteering and activities through my social
groups. Plus, I also finally joined an art club as well.
My first session at the art club had me taking part in a silent auction which was a lot of fun
and allowed me to get started with a bunch of paints, a canvas board, and a bunch of
other artistic equipment for drop bottom cheap.
3. 3/7
The week in general had me doing lots and lots of walking and my feet and legs are
extremely achey from having to rush around and walk long distances. But it is worth it,
plus exercise is good.
As for the dog sitting I very much love dogs so it was a good time, plus I also got paid for
it as well.
And as for the piece I am working on for the young film event programmer group I am in, I
may well also share that here as well, you know cause content.
This brings me on to the next part I discovered about myself…
BREAKING NEWS: I am Terrible at Short Blogposts
This is the truth of the matter, at least for now anyway. I ironically find it easier to create
longer blogposts than shorter ones. Whenever I try to do a short blogpost, I always feel
like I am cutting too many corners and that there is not enough information so it ends up
taking much longer and turning into a larger blogpost…
I guess I try to perfect things too much. I want my blogposts to be the best they can be
and so I just spend a lot more time on them than I really should. I think the Dark Items
blogposts are going okay and they are what I would consider short.
But I also had the grand idea of doing a short blogpost that looked at the five big TV
channels in the UK – BBC One and Two, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5. It was going to
be in a list format and give some interesting bits of information on to the origins of each
and how they are different from each other…
4. 4/7
or at least that’s what the original plan was, this blog post has since turned into another
large project that has gone far beyond a short blogpost. I just feel like I could not leave
out all of the background information that helps make it all have more sense.
And it is barely even halfway done yet despite me working on it (when even possible with
how busy the week has been) since Monday. So much for a short and easy blogpost to
be up by Friday… that has not happened.
Annoyingly this also pushes back the other large project I am still working on which is
going to be about the ships (and other equipment) used by the Royal Navy, as part of the
much larger Commonwealth armed forces series that remains in its infancy despite
starting it in the middle of last year.
Time. There’s never enough of it. And even when I try to plan around this and make short
blogposts, they often just explode into larger blogposts. I am finding it to be a real
dilemma.
So yes, I need to get much, much better at creating smaller blogposts that fit into weeks
when I am busy. Next week, as it is still Easter, I will also still be busy with more Easter
social activities so I will again be attempting to get out some shorter blogs, certainly
another Dark Items one.
Another idea I had for short blogposts as well was having a random generator choose a
word for me and just have me talk about that word and look into it. But then again, I don’t
know if that would really be that good. But I will probably give it a go.
I should also look into Commonwealth news as well as that should provide some content,
I can make some short blogposts out of.
I guess it is just practice makes perfect when it comes to making actual short blogposts.
Fixed-Term Parliament Act 2011 is Gone

So, this is a little old. But anyway, I am thinking of also making a blogpost on this at some
point as it is pretty important news for the UK, and as I am a UK-based blog with an
interest in politics then I think it makes sense to look into it.
I mean, this piece of legislation has been quite defining for a political system since it
came into law, especially during the whole BREXIT debacle when the Government was
trying its hardest to force an election due to the utter deadlock. Man, that was something.
Anyway, with that law now repealed the Government once again has the power to straight
up ask the Queen to dissolve Parliament without needing Parliament’s consent, just like
the old days. The old days when politics did not seem to be so divisive and vicious as it
seems now.
Well, that’s the most basic gist of the matter anyway. We can dive deeper into it with a
blogpost soon.
Starstreak Takes out Russian Aircraft over the Donbas

I am including this news as it lets me link back to my former post on the equipment,
weapons and vehicles used by the British Army. The Starstreak, an advanced anti-air
missile system that was featured in that blogpost, has taken out its first Russian aircraft in
Eastern Ukraine over Luhansk. And I say kudos, let us keep sending them over.
I find it very interesting how hammered Russia is getting in this war. I like many had
expected Russia to eventually win the war, but it seems like such a win if any at all will be
a lot smaller, and can we really call that a win?
As the war now shifts more towards the Donbas things are once again getting more
horrific as Russia continues to mount its war crimes. The complete logistical failure and
incompetence of the Russian Army is quite extraordinary and I think has highlighted a lot
to the world. Russia is not as strong as it always tried to let on.
That’s not to say they still cannot cause a lot of geopolitical issues and changes, they can
and have – if we look at places in central and northern Africa and in the Middle East, they
certainly do.
But Ukraine has shown us they simply do not have the capacity to fight a conventional
war, even against a country that is less powerful than itself. This war is going to define
Russia’s weakness for many decades to come and I think will lead to a number of
interesting events.
Nuclear weapons really are only one of the very few things that keeps Russia somewhat
scary and enables it to maintain its current position.

I very much hope Ukraine will be able to take back all of Eastern Ukraine and perhaps
even Crimea, but we shall see. That WOULD be extraordinary. We should continue to
give them all the support we can.
Well. I guess that is about it for the first edition of The Weekly Update. I am very much
hoping to keep this going for as long as the blog exists. I think it only makes sense to
keep everyone informed with relevant information, and other little interesting tidbits.
