2. Mood Boards:
In my fanzine I want to have a
wavy effect that adds an
original aesthetic to horror
magazines. I want this effect to
be much more apparent when
there aren't as many facts to
back up evidence. However the
fanzine still has to be crime
related and spooky so I will be
using a dark contrasting black
to get this effect.

4. Mood Boards:
I have decided to have neon focused fanzine
that has a unique look for a murder
orientated theme. I have chosen very
simple range of colours here as I believe a
neon look with these colours whilst still be a
unique look keeps it basic and not too
extravagant for a fanzine about unsolved
murders. I will be able to use the blue
colours for images of the victims and the
pink for people who are suspects ( I will be
able to switch pink for red if it doesn’t look
right, however the neon pink looks much
more aesthetically appealing in
coordination with blue ).
The next colour pallet that I went for was a
much lighter green and red based pallet. I
chose these colours as it would allow me to
use colour as a way of giving the reader
information without having to write it out, I
would be able to use different shades of
red to make the reader believe certain
people were more involved than others or I
could do a similar thing with green to make
people perceive people as more innocent.
I do like the idea of the green and red but
currently the colours a far too flat and not
nearly vibrant enough to catch peoples
eyes. Which the first colour pallet does, I
allows me to create a neon effect in the
magazine, which makes my overall design
much more intriguing and mysterious.
I then decided to try a mix of the two
previous pallets, as it would mean I would
be able to influence the reader using the
red and green, whilst I would still be able to
build the intrigue in the murders I am
aiming to. However I still don’t think these
colours really allow me to create that neon
effect. I think this is mainly because there
aren’t any deep colours to emphasize the
much brighter colo9urs like you would have
in a neon sign. The colours are also quite
childish in their overall appearance, which
is not the look that is most suitable for a
magazine based on gruesome murders that
have taken place. So from this I have found
that I most likely going to be using the first
pallet as I am heavily focused on creating
an effective neon effect.

7. Production schedule:
You have 3 weeks to complete your book along with any improvements. You need to plan this. What will you be doing each
week? How long should you spend on each task? How will you know if you are head or behind schedule?
Week Task Time spent on each task How will I know if I'm
behind
1 In week one I aim to achieve multiple tasks.
1. I want to understand my design first and how I want to run the theme
through my magazine.
2. I want to use my theme to develop the first half of my magazine, this isn’t
imperative as I plan to get mainly the front cover done.
3. I still would prefer to get as much of the magazine blocked out as possible.
I aim to spend approximately the first 3
hours of the week developing the
magazine style to a point that looks really
good whilst not being too challenging to
replicate. I then will spend the rest of my
time creating primarily creating the front
page. Whilst also starting work on the next
pages.
I will know that I am behind if after the
first work all I have worked on and
produced is the front cover and I haven’t
started producing any other pages.
2 In this week I will focussing on completing the rest of all of my fanzine pages and
laying out all the places for images and text to go.
I will give myself all week to do this as it
needs to look appealing whilst really well
laid out so that people find the timeline
easy to understand and read.
I will know I'm behind if if I haven't
completed the layout for all of the
magazine, I would also prefer to have got
most of the design on each page
completed as well
3 This week I need to finish the design on each page so that everything is matching, I
then need to start adding any photos into my magazine. Most importantly I will
then be able to add the text to the magazine to finish it off.
I want to spend the first half of the week
finishing off the the design of the
magazine. I then will spend the rest of the
week adding all the text to the magazine.
I will know that I am behind if I haven't
got all of the production done as it should
all be done by now.
