This document describes an experiment where a glass filled with water is covered with a piece of carton and turned upside down. When held upside down by the carton, the water stays in the glass due to atmospheric pressure counteracting the hydrostatic pressure pushing up on the carton. The experiment demonstrates how atmospheric pressure prevents water from escaping a container when covered and inverted.
