La Société de Saint-Vincent-de-Paul nait dans un monde en pleine mutation. Attirés par les emplois créés par la Révolution industrielle, une nouvelle population afflue en masse dans les villes. Les conditions de travail sont inhumaines. Mal nourris, mal logés ces nouveaux arrivants tentent de survivre comme ils peuvent en milieu urbain. Paris est alors une ville insalubre et peu sûre. Pour résoudre la question de la pauvreté l’Etat se contente d’intervenir au minimum. L’Eglise elle-même est affaiblie suite à la Révolution Française. C’est dans cette situation de crise que 7 jeunes se lèvent et décident « d’aller aux périphéries ». Une histoire passionnante et très actuelle où l’on découvre de nombreux parallélismes entre cette période et notre époque elle-aussi, très mouvante…

This part concerns all countries and therefore all Vincentians
The rules of a Superior Council are called its “Internal Statutes”.
They must include
o A variable part,
with the laws, usages and traditions proper to each country
o A fixed part common to all countries
The internal statutes are produced from the
model statutes in Part III and called “Required
Conditions”.
