Samuel Taylor Coleridge was an English poet, literary critic and philosopher in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He is known for writing the famous poems The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Great Eagle and Kubla Khan. His critical writings, especially about Shakespeare, were highly influential and he introduced German idealist philosophy to English culture.
