We were made for love and to give love. Jesus is always in our hearts quietly waiting for us to spend time with him in prayer. Real prayer requires discipline, making time for silence every day to find God and our true selves.

This past Wednesday Christians came together to be marked on the forehead with ashes, beginning the 40 day journey of Lent. Most have figured out some favorite food or activity to give up, which is all well and good. But what about looking at the way we pray. Sure we come to church…we say our prayers at home…but do we pray as Jesus taught us how to pray?
The Gospel passage is of Jesus teaching his disciples on how to pray: stop babbling words for God already knows what you need; instead, go to your inner room, close the door and to pray in secret. What is Jesus talking about? What does that look like? What does that get me? How does that transform me…and others?
Check it all out….
This is a collection of some of the best writings on the issue of prayer to the Holy Spirit. He is God and so it is valid to offer prayer to the third Person of the Godhead. Catholics have far more prayers to the Spirit, but Protestants are getting into the experience of worship of the Holy Spirit. Prayers to Him acknowledge that you accept Him as God and as an equal member of the Trinity.
Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
3. I wish to speak to you from my own heart, and I ask you to open your hearts to what I have to say.
4. I ask each of you, first and foremost, to look into your own heart. Think of all the love that your heart was made to receive, and all the love it is meant to give. After all, we were made for love
5. We need to thank the Lord for the love we have received from our families, our friends, our teachers, and all those people in our lives who have helped us to realize how precious we are, in their eyes and in the eyes of God.
6. We were also made to give love, to make love it the inspiration for all we do and to build a better world.
7. This is the message I want to share with you today. I ask you to look into your hearts each day to find the source of all true love. Jesus is always there, quietly waiting for us to be still with him and to hear his voice. Deep within your heart, he is calling you to spend time with him in prayer.
8. But this kind of prayer, real prayer, requires discipline; it requires making time for moments of silence every day. Often it means waiting for the Lord to speak. in silence that we find God, and in silence that we discover our true self.
