Architecture now makes a break with tradition
3. What problem ?
-Then, modern architecture is a stupid mixture of the most
varied stylistic elements used to mask the modem skeleton.
-Conventional usage of modern materials - monumentality
(steel,concrete)
-Supply is not meeting the demand.
-Constantly inc. no. of machines,
the speed of communications,
the agglomeration of people,
the demands of hygiene
hundred other phenomena of modern life
Why problem ?
-Corrupted academics ,Young minds forced into pointless copy-
ing of classical models- Vitruvius, Vignola and Sansovino (High-
ly intellectual prison environment)
So solution….
Unique condition, it must be new just as our mind of state -
by using science & technology
4. Materials and construction style should be evolved….and also
maintaining the religious and political elements.
5. CONCLUSION
-Modernism is not something that eliminate all tradition but it
should reflect the past without losing its essence. New materi-
als and techniques have emerged with time but history or past
should always be reflected in background. Life will never work
like a machine so is Architecture . Architecture is a direct ex-
pression of its user’s lifestyle and culture…..it cannot be mecha-
nised…...
-Antonio’s notion of completely wiping away the existing architec-
ture is not fully acceptable as history and traditional architecture
of each place is important.
-Traditional ideas should be integrated with the technology for
the architecture of the future.
-Antonio’s thoughts not completely but made a shift from the ex-
isting style and notion of architecture then.
-Even though Antonio was against the idea of monumentality
in building, his sketches had a sense of monumentality with re-
spect to human scale.
