The document outlines two potential thriller plot ideas and considerations for developing a trailer for one of the plots. It includes details on possible plot elements and locations, suggested sound effects and cinematography techniques. It also lists skills the author needs to learn to create an effective trailer, such as using video and audio editing software, and determining what makes for a successful thriller trailer.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

The Pitch
1. The Pitch.
A pitch which involves research into a particular genre, I have chosen
thrillers and then two plot ideas based on that genre although one is more
tame than the other but it can allow us to decide what path to take at a
later date. Possible locations for both plots, not specific places but ideas
what to look for. Possible sound effects for both plots, more specific than
the locations but nothing finalised. And possible cinematography/direction
for each plot, which does include some specific shots and also some
editing for each plot which may be used to create suspense alongside the
cinematography. And also what I need to learn and achieve to make my
trailer.
2. Plots often include a character

element.
3. Plot x1
Thriller
Death/suicide of a local girl
She comes back to haunt any people that did her
wrong (possibly just two people in particular?)
They begin to see her appearing and her face in
things
Slowly begins to send them insane
Is she actually haunting them or is it a guilty
conscience?
4. Plot x2
Thriller/Horror
A Murder spree
We see it through somebody’s POV that is on the
inside of the investigation
They are actually the killer but it’s a Jekyll and Hyde
situation
Things slowly start to unwrap to reveal certain parts
A twist could be is he gets sent down but we don’t
fully know if he does know what he has done or not
5. Possible Locations
Including separate locations for plot 1/2 and also ones which
may be used in both.
Deserted areas whether it’s woods or urban areas for
crime scenes
Different homes/workplaces of people
Dark walking routes to get footsteps and following
scenes
6. Sound Effects
Including separate sounds for plot 1/2 and also ones which
may be used in both.
The echoing of footsteps
Soft wind sounds for any outside scenes
Diegetic sounds in workplaces
Whispering voices
Police sirens
The dropping of murder weapons e.g. a knife
7. Typical Cinematography/Direction
Including separate editing/shots for plot 1/2 and also ones
which may be used in both.
Close up shots of flashbacks to murders
Over the shoulders shots of looking onto crime scenes
Jump cuts between spotting the girl and the character
Tight framing on the murderer often to show his
confusion/distress
Long Shots when we can see the girl/murderer in the
background
High angles over victims in flashbacks
A lot of tight framing to represent the overwhelming of the
characters
8. What I need to achieve/learn to make my trailer.
All of the points listed below will apply to any plot I decide to
go with.
I will need to achieve:
Making many successful mini trailers for tests
Photoshop trials
iMovie trials
Garage band trials
What I need to learn:
How to use photoshop and iMovie and any other programs I may use
What exactly to include in my trailer e.g. any technical things
What makes for a successful thriller trailer
How to effectively edit clips together
And how to blend the music/sound together with that
How to use the cameras and whats best to use for my scenes e.g. tripods,
handheld?
