Our Needs
Our mission is critical for educating the next generation in the Information Age, preserving quality journalism by creating a demand for it and strengthening the grassroots of the nation’s democracy.
To see news literacy embedded in the American educational experience as an essential skill, giving every student an appreciation of quality journalism and the tools to be an informed participant in the nation’s democracy.
In our first eight years, our classroom, after-school and digital programs reached more than 25,000 middle school and high school students in diverse schools in New York, Chicago, the Washington, D.C., region and Houston. More than 400 volunteer journalist fellows delivered more than 750 lessons, in person and virtually.
In just over a year, more than 6,900 educators who teach more than 1M students in every state in the U.S. and 61 countries have registered to use the platform.
