THE NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands is a small country with
only 41,5 km of extension situated
between Germany and Belgium and its
under the sea level. The capital of The
Netherlands is Amsterdam, a city with
about 780.000 population, and the whole
country has got 16,8 milion population.
The official language of The Netherlands is
Dutch, but most of the population is also
fluent in English, due that English is the
second language of this country.
The government from this little country is
quite different from ours, the person in
charge of their government is the king or
queen from the country, this kind of
government is called constitutional
monarchy. One of the most important
economic activities in this country is
commerce, and that’s because The
Netherlands has got some of the most
important harbours of the whole world.
MAASSLUIS & ROTTERDAM
Maassluis is a village near Rotterdam,the
second most important city in The
Netherlands, and it’s the village where the
highschool that we do the exchange with
is situated. This village has got 31.500
population.
Rotterdam is the second most important
city and also the second with most
poulation (600.000). It’s a quite modern
city due that during the Second World War
it was bombarded and the most of it had
to be rebuilt. Some of its more turistic
places are the Euromast, which is a viewer
near one of the city channels where you
can see the city from the top or the
Markthal, a gastronomic market situated
at the centre of Rotterdam which lots of
Restaurants and shops with fresh food,
and also a really nice and peculiar roof
which has an enormous painting of
different kinds of fruits and vegetables.
AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam is the capital of The
Netherlands and also its most turistic
city.It’s a really historical city,and one of
its special items are its channels. There are
165 of them and 1.753 bridges. To visit
them you can take one of the many
available channels boat tour. One
interesting fact about this city is that it has
more bikes than people, and the whole
country as well.
