Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany with over 1.7 million inhabitants. It has a long history dating back to 1198 and was once one of the richest cities in northern Germany due to its tax-free port. Hamburg has over 2500 bridges, two professional soccer teams (HSV and FC St. Pauli), and a famous red light district called the Reeperbahn known for its nightlife. The city is also home to the University of Hamburg which has over 40,000 students.
