The Navajo Tribe is the largest Native American tribe. Over 1,000 years ago, their ancestors migrated south from Canada and Alaska, reaching the southwest United States. There, they met and learned farming techniques from the Pueblo Indians, growing crops like corn. In the 1600s, after contact with Spanish settlers, the Navajo began raising sheep and horses, using the wool to weave clothing and the animals for transportation and trade. Today, the Navajo Reservation is the largest in the US, and Navajo continue traditions of weaving, crafts-making, and blending modern and traditional lifestyles.
