Rachel and Rin find a magic conch shell on the beach during their last day of vacation in North Carolina. The shell grants three wishes but comes with consequences. Rachel wishes to stay longer in North Carolina, which leads to them getting arrested for having an illegal bonfire. They make another wish to get out of jail which works but all their belongings are then stolen from their beach house. They realize every wish comes with an unintended consequence.

Three Wishes and Consequences
1. “Ahhh, Rin, I can't believe it's already the last day in North Carolina, I feel like vacation just
started yesterday,” remarked Rachel as she laid out her beach towel to sit on.
“I know, how are we already having to leave tonight?” I replied as I squirted sunscreen into my
hands.
“I know, but at least we had a good week, and got lots of sun, plus we even learned how to surf.”
“Yeah, I’d say that was an experience. Hey, can you slide your phone under the blanket or
something it's causing a glare in my eye,” I said as I put down my sunglasses, to rest on my nose.
“Uhh, my phone is back up at the house Rin, remember I didn't want to get sand on it while we
were tanning today.”
“Then what is that glare I keep getting in my eye?” I asked as I covered my eyes with my hands.
“I don't know, where is it coming from?” Rachel asks while looking around as if I'm crazy.
“There, there, what's that lying by the beach ball?”
“It looks like a glass bottle with something inside. Woah it must have washed up onto shore, let's
go check it out.” Rachel rushes over to pick up the bottle and brushes the sand off.
“Well what are you waiting for, open it!” I squealed anxiously waiting to see what's inside.
“Okay, okay, it's a note with a conch shell. The note reads, “ This shell grants you three wishes
and three wishes only but be warned tha-”
“What, we get three wishes, oh my gosh what should we wish for? I'm so excited, let's wish now!
Hurry, let me see it!” I swoop the shell from Rachel’s hands and run back to our towels. Rachel
follows me back and we think of the first wish we should make.
“Do you actually think that our wish will come true,” asked Rachel.
“I mean I don't see why it wouldn't, you read what the paper said, it said we get three wishes. I
guess we'll just have to see for ourselves.”
2. After returning back to the beach house, that night after dinner we decided to make our first
wish from the shell.
“Hmmmm, maybe we should wish for a new car, or maybe to win the lottery, or what about-”
Rachel states as she walks into the kitchen.
“Yeah, or maybe we could wish for some concert tickets or those new shoes you wanted.” I say
with a chuckle.
“Oh my gosh, Rin I got it, I know what we should wish for!” Rachel rushes over to the conch
shell sitting on the counter by the fridge. She held the shell up in her hands, “I wish to stay in
North Carolina longer.”
“Rachel, we are leaving tonight, remember, how is that wish going to come true?”
“Oh, well maybe you're right,” she says with a pout, “well there goes one of our wishes. I'm
sorry.”
“Oh well, we still have two more wishes, now let's go enjoy our last bonfire on the beach before
we have to leave.” I walk out the door with the marshmallows and graham crackers. Rachel
followed behind me with the chocolate.
“Whoops, I forgot the sticks to roast the marshmallows.” Rachel said as she threw firewood into
the pit.
“Well, let's go see if we can find any up along the dunes.” I said and started walking up the
beach with Rachel following.
“Excuse me ladies, but is that your bonfire on the beach right over there,” the officer asked us
shining a bright flash light into our eyes.
“Uh yeah, we were just about to roast marshmallows, wanna join us,” Rachel asked with her
voice a bit shaky.
3. “I'm sorry girls but I'm gonna have to take you into the station and you're going to have to stay
overnight. Come with me.” The officer grabs Rachel and I by the arms and starts walking us to
his car.
“Well, at least the wish came true, we are getting a longer stay in North Carolina,” Rachel half
smiles at me with a worried look on her face.
“Okay, so what do we do now? We're stuck in this cell for the night? Over a bonfire on the
beach? This is horrible, we were supposed to leave 2 hours ago,” I stressed looking at Rachel in
her orange jumpsuit. “I mean look at us, we're not criminals, we were just trying to have a good
last night on the beach.”
“What if it had to do with the conch shell, it did say something about be warned,” questioned
Rachel.
“I don't know, what if we wished to get out of here,” I whispered to her excitedly.
“Hey, anything right now would be better than sitting in this cell, let's try it!” She holds up the
shell and pleads, “I wish Rin and I out of this cell, so we can go home!” As soon as the shell
went back into Rachel's pocket the phone rang just outside of our cell and we watched the officer
walk over to it and answer. He nodded his head as he talked and had fright in his eye. He
slammed the phone on the hook and rushed over to our cell and started unlocking the locks.
“You girls are free to go, there's been a robbery and we need every man on the scene. You two
got off lucky this time, but please no more bonfires on the beach.” He grabbed his car keys and
rushed out the door.
“Okay, so maybe this shell isn't too bad after all,” Rachel says smirking at me.
“Maybe you're right, let's get going before traffic starts to get too bad.” We walked out the doors
and caught a bus back to our beach house. When we arrived all we could see were cop cars and
4. officers standing everywhere outside the house and along the road. “Excuse me officer,” I said as
I tapped him on the back.
The officer from the station who let us go turned around and said, “Hey, you again… get into
more trouble already?”
“No, but this is where we were staying, any idea what's going on?”
“You two are staying here, at this house?” He pointed to the house we had been staying in for the
past week.
“Yes…why?” I said with a worried voice.
“Well, I'm sorry I have to be the one to tell you this girls but, all the belongings and the cars to
this house were stolen late last night. Probably around the time I took you two into the station.”
Rachel and I walked into the house looking around to see if any of our belongings were
left behind but all we found was a flip flop and a toothbrush. “Well now what are we going to do,
we can't even drive home because our cars were stolen too.” Rachel walked into the bedroom.
“Hey, it's the slip of paper from the glass bottle that came with the shell. I knew it, I knew it
Rin!”
“Calm down, you knew what?” I stared at her waiting for a response as I watched her eyes widen
as she read the slip of paper.
“But be warned, with every wish comes a consequence!” Rachel screamed.
“Well I guess we learned a good lesson, always read the instructions, right?” I said half smiling
at her, “I mean our wishes did come true, they just had their faults.”
“Yeah a couple big downfalls from those wishes,” she said staring out the window at the beach
holding the conch in her hand, “how are we ever going to get home now? It's not like we can
wish for a car.”
5. “I mean, we coul-”
“Rin, no!” She threw the conch shell out the window and into the waves.
