The Matses Tribe By: Mariah Barabe, Veronyca Conrado and Thomas Pecoraro
Problem They’re dying because of malaria and hepatitis. And the Peruvian Ministry of Health is preventing them from getting the vaccine needed to cure these problems.
Matses Civilization The development of the Matses happened in the Amazon Rainforest. Also along the Javari river basin.
Interactions with Outsiders They refuse to be controlled by any outsiders. So only the Matses Indians may act as guides, so that Outsiders do not find the location of the tribe.
Matses religion and social structure. They’re animists, but most of them are Christian. A common religious ceremony involves the use of toxin derived from poison tree frogs. Men have one or more wives and sometimes they kidnap and assimilate women from other tribes for wives.
Matses religion and social structure. #2 They’re animists, but most of them are Christian. They also believe that all plants have an association with a specific animal spirit and that there is no difference between spiritual and physical worlds.
Solution For our solution we could start a car wash station and try to raise money to get medicine to give to the Matses people. And if that solution doesn’t work then we will start a fundraiser at stop and shop and other big groceries stores.
