This picture was painted by the Italian artist Francesco Hayez in the year 1859.
Francesco Hayez was born in Venice on 10 of February in 1791. He died in Milan on 12 of
February in 1882. He was an Italian painter considered the representative of romanticism. It
comes from a humble family. As a child he liked drawing and his uncle helped him learn how
to paint different paintings as he really liked it.
In 1809 he won a competition from the Venetian academy.
In 1814 he left Rome after suffering an aggression due to a sentimental relationship and he
left to live in Naples.
